Telecommunications Director is responsible for the strategic planning and design of an organization's telecommunications systems. Develops policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Director plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Director trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Telecommunications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. In this Telecommunications Specialist position, you will work for a dynamic, geographically-dispersed organization in which you will perform the following duties:

Physical Demands: Moderate physical exertion is required including bending, climbing, lifting, and carrying test equipment. The position requires the ability to hike long distances, work at high elevations, and work long hours if necessary. It requires driving long distances in hazardous conditions, such as four-wheel drive access areas over steep and mountainous or rough high desert terrain. The position may require flying in helicopters and boating in varying weather conditions. The work performed in the office will be mostly sedentary with occasional bending, stooping, and lifting. The individual must possess the ability to withstand high stress caused by varied demands of the job.
Working Conditions: Work is performed for the most part in an office environment. Some fieldwork is required at remote locations including high elevations and extreme weather conditions.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
