Telecommunications Director is responsible for the strategic planning and design of an organization's telecommunications systems. Develops policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Director plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Director trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Telecommunications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Telecom Technician will participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems and associated processes.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Regular attendance at assigned location; may include A/Z office or other project site;
    • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows blueprints, insuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
    • Installs cable supports, through floor and wall sleeves, fire stopping materials
    • Oversees or participates in data cable installations, open wiring, with conduit and on cable trays;
    • Installs relays racks, cabinets, network switches.
    • Install cable trays above and below floors
    • Ability to work in confined spaces.
    • Terminates data, voice, coaxial, control and fiber optic cables.
    • Test cables to TIA/EIA level II standards with cable analyzer.
    • Perform other routine duties as directed by workplace leader,
    • Must maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality;
    • Participate in site housekeeping;
    • Additional duties as directed by management.
    Qualifications

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
    • Experience: 3-5 years of Field Experience, trade school or apprenticeship;
    • Be highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations;
    • Good documentation and record keeping;
    • Preparation of miscellaneous paperwork including time sheets, daily reports and material requests;
    • Understanding of and strict adherence to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA);
    • Appropriate state certification or license;
    • OSHA 10 certification.
