Telecommunications Director is responsible for the strategic planning and design of an organization's telecommunications systems. Develops policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Director plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Director trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Telecommunications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     POSITION: Housing Director 

    LOCATION: Yakutat Tlingit Tribe Main Office

    EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Permanent  

    WAGE RANGE: $56,000-62,000 DOE

    BENEFITS: Full Benefits Package including Health, Dental, Life Insurance, 401(K) Retirement and generous leave package

    Position Summary: The Yakutat Tlingit Tribe is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and dedicated Housing Director to oversee our comprehensive housing development and property management programs. The successful candidate will also manage Maintenance staff and ensure the effective operation of the housing sector within our community. 

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Oversee the development and implementation of housing construction and maintenance projects.
    • Manage property and tenant relations for all Tribally-owned homes, ensuring high standards of living and satisfaction. 
    • Support the housing committee, facilitating discussions, decision-making, and strategy development for housing policies and initiatives. 
    • Direct and supervise Maintenance staff, ensuring efficient and effective maintenance and repair of all housing properties. 
    • Develop and implement systems for regular property inspections, maintenance schedules, and tenant feedback to continuously improve housing services. 
    • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for property development, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring quality work within budgetary constraints. 
    • Oversee the tenant application and selection process, ensuring fairness and compliance with Tribal policies and federal housing regulations. 
    • Develop and manage the housing budget, including forecasting, expense tracking, and standardized reporting to committee and supervisor. 
    • Advocate for and secure funding opportunities to support housing initiatives through grants, loans, and other financial resources. 
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and Tribal policies related to housing, property management, and tenant rights. 
    • Responsible for all regulatory reporting, including NAHASDA. 
    • Other related duties as assigned. 

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

     

    Education and Work Experience: 

    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in housing development, property management, or a related field, with a preferred two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role. 

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

    • Strong leadership skills. 
    • Knowledge of NAHASDA reporting, preferred. 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with tenants, staff, community members, and external partners. 
    • Knowledge of housing development, property management practices, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements. 
    • Ability to develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and project funding proposals. 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and property management software. 
    • Capacity to multitask, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
    • Valid Driver’s License required.
