Telecommunications Director is responsible for the strategic planning and design of an organization's telecommunications systems. Develops policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Director plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Director trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Telecommunications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Responsibilities

    Essential Job Skills/Duties

    • Assist the Telecommunications Manager in successful attainment of the departments’ goals and objectives.
    • Support and assist the Telecommunications Manager in the control of the department and perform various duties to direct and control the operational functions and staff of the department.
    • To aid in assuring a continued atmosphere of professionalism, the Supervisor will direct and coordinate the activities of the Telecom personnel.
    • The Supervisor will promote professionalism among all Telecom personnel by providing leadership, direction and undertaking or participating in other activities to foster and improve the individual performance of department staff thereby enhancing the operation, image and reputation of the Telecommunications Department.
    • Works closely with the department manager to ensure effective and efficient department operation

    Special Skills/Knowledge

    • Responsible for the effective performance of functions pertaining to the daily operation of Telecommunications in accordance with assigned accountabilities.
    • Provides organizational leadership, communication, and problem solving skills which contribute to the effectiveness of department and hospital operations.
    • Responsible for the training of new associates and for ensuring that all associates within the assigned area of responsibility are adequately cross-trained for all departmental functions.
    • Monitors quality, productivity and analyses the volume data for the department.
    • Assists in developing plans for continuing education of associates to ensure continuous performance improvement.
    • The Telecommunications Supervisor or scheduling designee will put out a daily work schedule to meet the volume needs of the department.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the department manager
    • Completes the annual PA evaluations of the department
    • Responsible for the daily and ongoing management of the Telecom department activities and for the provision of timely and effective services to all customers


    Qualifications
    • One year experience as a telephone operator/ECC dispatcher is required
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, associates and customers
    • Must be able to react quickly to emergent situations and remain calm
    • Must possess excellent communication skills
    • Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
    • High School Diploma / GED
    • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
    • Able to navigate a Windows based computer system.
    • Pager and mobile device usage helpful
