Telecommunications Director is responsible for the strategic planning and design of an organization's telecommunications systems. Develops policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Director plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Director trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Telecommunications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. This includes directional boring, installation of manhole and conduit systems, buried and aerial placement of coaxial, copper, and fiber communications and power cable, plowing and trenching.     Responsibility

    • Maintain understanding of our specifications, standard practices, and safety
    • Conduct walkouts and inspect cable placement, splice points, underground placement of conduit and handholes for Aerial and Underground crews.
    • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair overhead fiber lines.
    • Assist managing several crews per day.
    • Communicate with subcontractors on changes or issues with projects.
    • Understanding of separation and clearance regulations
    • Operate Construction Equipment
    • Utilize standard telecommunications tools
    • Access construction points as required
    • Read and interpret engineering plans
    • Keep a detailed record of work activity

    Qualifications

    • Current valid drivers license (CDL Preferably but not required) with a clean driving record
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
    • Must follow all safety guidelines and wear protective equipment at all times
    • Must be able to work in all weather conditions
    • Must be able to work at heights of 20 ’ feet
    • Must be able to move in different positions – crouching, bending, reaching, kneeling, and heavy lifting
    • Must be self-motivated and able to work well with others

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
