We are seeking a skilled individual located south of the Seattle area, positioned between Auburn and Olympia WA. As the initial point of contact in the Telecommunications engineering process, the Field Technician plays a pivotal role. Their primary responsibility involves verifying and optimizing cost-effective routing for cable and fiber construction, encompassing both aerial and underground pathways. Field Technicians undertake precise measurements between designated points, strategically determine the placement of underground facilities, and conduct thorough inspections of utility poles for aerial routing. They are also tasked with identifying necessary make-readies for the attachment of new cable and fiber infrastructure in conjunction with NESC Requirements. In alignment with these responsibilities, the Field Technician will document their findings, utilizing various tools and applications provided by ADP-Resources.
Duties:
Duties of this position are performed with a high degree of independence and self-motivation. The employee is responsible for independent judgements in determining appropriate action based on technical knowledge.
- Gather information for pole permits and input into database.
- Gather & map information for underground and aerial routes.
- Learn NESC regulations that apply to communication attachments of utility poles.
- Follow company’s field procedures and protocols.
- Learn proper use of field equipment such as measuring sticks and laser range finders.
- Ability to move over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment.
- Maintain all necessary company tools and equipment.
- Meet with customers on site.
Skills/Abilities:
- Perform duties in a manner which promotes harmonious working relationships (including contacts with the general public).
- Able to engage in effective team participation, willingness to assist coworkers and management.
- Proficient use of computerized equipment, including smartphone and laptop computer.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, schematics, and design prints.
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Basic knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to sit for long periods of driving and intermittently walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach while performing duties.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Proficient in maintaining effective audio-visual discrimination and perception, which is crucial for various tasks such as observation, communication, reading, writing, and equipment operation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the telecommunication field to include but not limited to cable/fiber construction, install tech, locating, engineering, Surveying…
- Have a current driver’s license with clean driving record for insurability.
- High school diploma or GED - Minimum 18 years of age
- Telecommunications Systems Engineering experience preferred.
