  • General Description:  To prayerfully minister to students in their faith and train them to live their faith. Teachers educate students in subject matters, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible young men and women of God.  UCA recognizes teaching as integral part of the 5-fold ministry given to the church in Ephesians 4:11-13. As such, UCA teachers serve as ministers to help advance the mission and vision of United Christian Academy.

     

    Reports To:  The Principal directly and indirectly to all authorities to whom the Principal is subject.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Must be a born-again Christian.
    • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
    • Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith, Statement of Conduct and Ministry of Teaching statement.
    • Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
    • Must possess Biblical knowledge and the ability to integrate Scripture into subject matters taught.
    • Must have an understanding of and commitment to UC Academy’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
    • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree and teacher’s certification through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The school prefers and provides additional compensation for dual certification (ACSI State).
    • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete assigned responsibilities.
    • First Aid/CPR Certification.
    • TB clearance with the last four years.
    • Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.
    • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form.

    3.7  Uses homework, tests, and assessments skillfully to ensure student learning

    • Assigns proper amount of study load and homework to meet learning objectives
    • Uses diverse, appropriate assessment methods to measure teaching-learning effectiveness, and makes instructional adjustments when appropriate
    • Ensures that assessments are aligned with learning objectives

    3.8 Provide direct and explicit writing instruction to elementary students, ensuring clarity and comprehension in writing  

          concepts and techniques.

    • Possess IEW Certification to effectively implement the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) methodology.
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the integration of IEW principles and practices into daily classroom instruction.
    • Develop a minimum of one writing project per trimester aligned with grade-level writing standards, ensuring students have opportunities to apply learned skills.
    • Assess student writing proficiency and track progress over time, utilizing a variety of assessment tools and methods to inform instructional practices and interventions.
    • Integrate writing with other disciplines for relevance and rigor. 
    • Stay current with research and best practices in writing instruction and literacy development, attending relevant professional development opportunities and conferences.

    4.1  Maintains a system for recording and reporting on student progress and performance

    • Keeps students, parents, and administration adequately informed and involved to remedy academic or behavior deficiencies

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Standing/walking (60%), sitting (20%), lifting (5%), climbing (5%), bending (4%), squatting (6%). Must be able to lift 10-25 pounds.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work environment includes indoor and outdoor environments and office and classroom settings. Floating desk assignment and/or shared office space may be required; moderate noise levels commensurate to a classroom environment.
