  • The Giorgio Foundation is a nonprofit foundation created to fund research for a cure for NF1 - a type of Neurofibromatosis. We’re currently looking for a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to join the team and guide our organization forward by overseeing operational, financial, and technical aspects of the foundation.

    Neurofibromatosis affects about 1 in 3,000 and is typically diagnosed in early childhood. NF1 disables the gene that normally controls tumor growth. The result is hundreds or even thousands of painful and disfiguring tumors on the skin, in nerve tissue, and throughout the body. Learn more at www.endnf1.org

    The Giorgio Foundation is unique – a separate non-profit funds all expenses for the foundation’s events and operating expenses. This means 100% of every single dollar donated will be used by The Giorgio Foundation to fund highly focused medical research.

    It also means the foundation depends upon fundraising events that provide a significant return on investment measured against the underlying event expenses.

    As the Executive Director, you’ll be responsible for overseeing fundraising and developing innovative strategies to increase donations and support our mission.

    You will have minimum administrative staffing. You will develop and execute strategy.

    You’ll work closely with the Board of Directors and volunteers to ensure that fundraising goals are met and exceeded.


    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans that align with the organization's goals and objectives
    • Lead and manage the fundraising team, providing guidance and support as needed
    • Identify new funding streams and explore creative ways to expand our donor base
    • Identify grant opportunities and execute grant applications
    • Develop an actionable plan for fundraising events and execute all plan details
    • Work with Board of Directors on annual fundraising events; oversee and participate in such events
    • Manage all external communications including website, marketing collateral, newsletters and social media
    • Represent the organization to external stakeholders and the media
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with existing donors and stakeholders
    • Monitor and report on fundraising progress and adjust strategies as needed
    • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards related to fund-raising activities


    Requirements

    • Passion for the organization's mission
    • Proven work experience as a Non-Profit Executive Director or similar role
    • Strong knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations
    • Proven track record of developing, implementing, and running successful fundraising strategies, preferably for at least five years
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Familiarity with legal and ethical standards related to fundraising activities
    • Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising
    • Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and how to get individuals involved for the organization’s success
    • Proven success working with Board of Directors
