    Salary range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The posted UCSC Salary Scales set the minimum pay determined by step and level at appointment. See the scale titled, Academic Coordinator Fiscal Year Non-exempt. "Off-scale salaries", i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated step and level, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. A reasonable estimate for this position is $12,000-$15,000 (based on a full-time salary range of $60,000- $75,000).
    Percent time: Part-time , 20%-35%
    Anticipated start: As soon as possible after the initial review of the applications.
    Position duration: Initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of reappointment. Should the hiring unit propose reappointment; a review to assess performance will be conducted. Reappointment is also contingent upon the availability of funding.

    Position description

    Professor Emerita of Education and Central California Writing Project (CCWP) Site Director Judith Scott, invites applications for the position CCWP Associate Director. Under the direction of Dr. Scott, the CCWP Associate Director will create and carry out educational professional development programs that focus on writing; contribute to the administration and facilitation of CCWP through expertise in fiscal management including grant and contract administration; and will assist in the supervision of potential administrative assistants.

    The associate director will collaborate with Dr. Scott in the creation and orchestration of professional development programs; provide logistical support for teacher consultants; serve as a liaison between various constituencies; oversee the collection, reporting, and entry of data; work collaboratively with the directors and principal investigators; and maintain budgets. The position requires that the selected candidate possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, create a friendly and accessible office environment; work accurately with close attention to detail, and be proficient in a variety of computer applications. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is essential.

    Applicants who possess any of the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

    • Knowledge of the field of education and writing instruction.
    • Familiarity with fiscal management at UCSC.
    • Expertise in grant writing.
    • Experience working with teachers and educators in the Region 5 (Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey Counties).
