    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Kforce has a client that is seeking a Technical Writer in Oakland, CA.

    Overview:
    CA Legislature after 2017 wildfires stated that all electric utilities must put forward a wildfire mitigation plan to submit. This is a 17,000-page document that follows specific industry standards and energy safety guidelines. They are responsible for writing and editing of the WMP annually, but also responsible for quarterly reports and tracking WMP commitments.

    There are many components to the WMP; Main areas where someone will add value:
    * Undergrounding
    * Grid Design, System Hardening, Acid Inspection
    * Vegetation Management
    * Situational Awareness
    * Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS)
    * Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS)
    * Risk methodology and assessment (different risk models they use to prioritize their work)

    The Wildfire Risk Organization is responsible for assisting the company to act decisively and transparently to prevent fires of consequence from being caused by our equipment. The organization will develop objectives to prevent fires of consequence originating from our equipment; meet all commitments outlined in our Wildfire Mitigation Plan; continue to foster trusted relationships with key stakeholders; and develop consistent processes and work standards through the implementation of the Lean Operating System for sustainable operations.

    Duties:
    * Lead the development of the annual Wildfire Mitigation Plan
    * Analyzing past year's WMP, and those of other utility companies, as well as regulatory requirements, proposed decisions to provide insight into implications and identify opportunities for improvement
    * Make recommendations of possible course of action related to comments and/or proposed decisions as a whole
    * Coordinating with stakeholders on strategic mitigation activities
    * Utilize knowledge of utility industry practices and/or benchmarks with industry peers to provide insights to teams in support of strategy development

    REQUIREMENTS:
    * Bachelor's degree
    * 8 years of relevant experience
    * Experience supporting regulatory-related projects within the utility industry
    * Analytical-minded
    * Highly exceptional writing skills, experienced with analyzing complex and technical content and translating into easily digestible content and compelling storytelling for wider audiences
    * Strong with Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    * Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build trusting relationships to align multiple stakeholders around strategic priorities
    * Strong presentation skills to effectively convey complex issues to internal and external parties of various levels
    * Strong analytical and creative problem solving, strategic decision-making ability

    The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

    We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
