Technical Training Manager leads the design and delivery of technical training programs. Determines training objectives by conducting analysis of overall needs and specific skill or knowledge gaps. Being a Technical Training Manager manages the development of training programs and materials including outlines, text, handouts, hands on exercises, and training evaluations. Establishes processes to monitor results and collect feedback on training instructors to determine effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Technical Training Manager assesses and manages any contractors utilized to deliver specialized training. May manage IT, product, or equipment training depending on the industry and setting. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to an director. The Technical Training Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Technical Training Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for the oversite of all aspects of factory-related employee training including: qualification processes, trainer development, budgeting, planning, coordination, and record keeping. The Training Manager serves as a coach and mentor to the Training Department.
As a member of the site leadership team, this position will work collaboratively with site leadership to determine training needs that drive manufacturing excellence in alignment with the overall site strategy. The manager will utilize, develop, and implement training programs, which will include technical training, safety/food safety training, train-the-trainer programs, and process management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop in-house factory specific training programs to meet Factory Training Plan requirements as well as Factory training budget and plan
- Development and ongoing maintenance of Operator qualification standards and processes.
- Supervise & direct Lead Trainer activities as well as coaching and developing Lead Trainers and others responsible for the delivery of training within the operation
- Develop and implement training standards and measures (key performance indicators) that support the vision of self-sufficient teams in support of site strategy
- Ensures training materials are current and updated
- Tracks the success of training materials and programs, and makes improvements
- Documents employee attendance or performance at mandatory training session
- Delivers training programs to target audience within the local manufacturing plant
- Foster the development of internal subject matter experts through Train-the-Trainer program to leverage internal training resources and promote knowledge transfer within the organization
- Provide primary support for new technologies as they become available, coordinating and preparing training schedules to accommodate facility needs
- Control training expenses and manage expenditures to meet the training needs
- Provide guidance and indirect supervision to site or department training leaders
- Supervise & direct Training Facilitator activities
- Coach and develop Training Facilitators and others responsible for the delivery of training within the operation
- Administrative functions of a management role, such as time keeping, vacation planning, taking call-ins
- Development, training and ensuring associate completion of required trainings (e-learnings and other core and additional trainings)
- Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of an onboarding and early development program for new employees
- Other duties as assigned

- Skills and ability to facilitate learning through a combination of online, classroom, hands-on, virtual and on-the-job training
- Strong presentation, group facilitation and public speaking skills, confidence in influencing, consulting and partnering with various audiences
- Ability to communicate with individuals across various organizational levels, including written and verbal communications
- Ability to earn the respect, acceptance and trust of peers, subordinates and superiors
- Proficient in MS Office - Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours to support the needs of 24-hour operation.
- Post-secondary education in Adult Education, Business, or related field, or an equivalent amount of related experience
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership role within plant operations, preferably in a continuous Process Food Industry; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for the right candidates.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud when on the production floor and moderately loud when in the office area.
