Technical Training Manager leads the design and delivery of technical training programs. Determines training objectives by conducting analysis of overall needs and specific skill or knowledge gaps. Being a Technical Training Manager manages the development of training programs and materials including outlines, text, handouts, hands on exercises, and training evaluations. Establishes processes to monitor results and collect feedback on training instructors to determine effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Technical Training Manager assesses and manages any contractors utilized to deliver specialized training. May manage IT, product, or equipment training depending on the industry and setting. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to an director. The Technical Training Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager.     The Utility Construction Project Manager is responsible for providing project management systems and technical direction to projects teams for the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality execution of small to medium scale electric substation, transmission, distribution, and communications projects and/or client accounts. This position is the single point of accountability for the successful planning, execution and closeout of projects which is accomplished through managing all aspects of projects including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality as defined in the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK). Responsible for managing the client relationship and keeping company management informed of project status and issues. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently.

    Responsibilities:
    Under minimal supervision, the project manager will provide:

    • Management of the project in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures
    • Management of the client and project stakeholders, ensuring effective business relationships are in place and trusted by all.
    • Manage aspects of contract negotiation, change order identification, submittal and approval, administration, establishing the system to carry out the contract including management of subcontractors.
    • Manage effective change control and risk management processes.
    • Manage the EH&S and Quality programs appropriate for the project.
    • Provide thorough estimates and proposals.
    • Conduct effective project meetings (project kickoff, client alignment, status meeting, progress review, etc.)
    • Provide meaningful performance related feedback/input to appropriate line management and project team members.
    • Provide project reporting and status for the project team, management, and client.
    • Responsible for all field reporting, including material paperwork and status reports, daily field reports, quality reporting, plan of the day, safety reports, status reports, etc.
    • Oversight of any subcontractors/vendors in the field. Ensuring that contract deliverables, quality expectations and safety requirements are met.
    • Work with engineering to implement design changes in the field and completion of as builts.
    • Provide effective financial controls to ensure project profitability and expected cash flow positions.
    • Provide accurate invoices to ensure timely issuance and payment.

    Qualifications:
    All positions require participation in the federally compliant FMSCA drug and alcohol testing program. This includes both pre-employment and ongoing random testing.

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from accredited college or university OR equivalent years experience
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the utility industry
    • Skilled in engineering theories and principles. State registration as a Professional Engineer a plus
    • Detailed knowledge of project management fundamentals. PMP certification highly desired
    • Experience working directly with material manufacturers in the development of Transmission Lines or HV Electric Substation projects
    • Maintain working knowledge of utility company policy and procedures in order to communicate effectively with various professional staff from client companies.
    • Be well versed in the basic tenants of line construction and maintenance. Must have a working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code and the ability to recognize distribution equipment and associated hazards.
    • Able to demonstrate how to safely perform all tasks associated with high voltage electrical lines.
    • Able to demonstrate climbing techniques and procedures.
    • Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications with MS office application proficiency including MS Project and/or Primavera scheduling software
    • Demonstrated skills in written communications; ability to compose basic as well as complex technical documents, formal letters, invoices.
    • Demonstrated skills in oral communications; ability to make presentations to large, diverse groups.
    • High energy level with the ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with a bias for action and high commitment to achieving goals and plans.
    • Proven success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships while effectively navigating organizational barriers.
    • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
    • Demonstrated negotiating and decision-making skills.
    • Working knowledge of project accounting practices and financial systems
    • General understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing mechanisms
    • Working knowledge of the techniques needed to lead and influence others in a matrix organization.
    • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
