Technical Training Manager leads the design and delivery of technical training programs. Determines training objectives by conducting analysis of overall needs and specific skill or knowledge gaps. Being a Technical Training Manager manages the development of training programs and materials including outlines, text, handouts, hands on exercises, and training evaluations. Establishes processes to monitor results and collect feedback on training instructors to determine effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Technical Training Manager assesses and manages any contractors utilized to deliver specialized training. May manage IT, product, or equipment training depending on the industry and setting. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to an director. The Technical Training Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Technical Training Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Summary

    Oversees the day-to-day operations of onboarding, training for maintenance and distribution personnel, along with associated equipment.  Responsible for technical training for the entire plant at Mt Olive, for operations, maintenance, QA, and other internal partners.  Evaluates mechanical and electrical ability of applicants / candidates and new hires via industry standard assessments   Coordinate with local community colleges to plan and implement technical training.  Maintain and administer the IMTWS program per enterprise guidelines.  Schedule, administer, facilitate, and conduct physical practicals on all licensed powered industrial trucks at the facility, including technical training for operations, ‘Fork Trucks’, ‘Aerial Work Platforms’, ‘Telehandler’, and Trailer Locator ‘Yard dogs’

     

    Qualification Requirements

    Must have the ability to communicate effectively and deliver training in a manner effective to teach technical skills.  Must have excellent public speaking skills and be physically able to perform formal instruction and practicals associated with training for onboarding, along with orientation training items.  Maintaining the IMTWS program and PIT license program, and be able to update databases, forms, and other tools used for documentation of records using OneDrive and SharePoint cloud solutions.  Must understand the topics and equipment being taught.  Background in electrical and mechanical skills, and ability to facilitate SMT modules for recruiting and hiring needs.  Specific industrial system skills such as Operations, Distribution, or Maintenance is preferred.  Must be strong in computer hardware and technical software skills associated with Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, One Drive, Adobe Acrobat, Database, cloud services, E Learning and Video based training platforms for training.  Must be familiar with adult learning and learning styles to lead associates through training classes, computer-based training, and practicals.  Must be able to use all training resources associated with E Learning and work with enterprise development team to review training, offer new training needs, and ensure all available training items meet needs and are operational.  Must be able to physically maintain, replace, install, and support technical training computer lab, laptops, computers, and associated hardware with support from IT team.

     

    Minimum Qualifications

     

            2-3 years’ experience administering, facilitating, and maintaining training is required. 

            2-3 years’ experience with industrial systems, distribution, operations, or maintenance preferred. 

            Lead, Specialist, or Supervisory experience in related fields is preferred.

            Maintaining or ability to obtain OSHA 30 Hour Compliant General Industry is required for safety compliance.

            Ability to become certified to conduct physical assessments using both STM and ESTD testing modules.

            Must be able to use hand tools, digital multimeter to troubleshoot issues with modules to correct and replace parts frequently to ensure integrity of the evaluation process.

            Must be able to physically operate all equipment as a licensed operator to conduct training, practicals, and audits for associated equipment.

            Achieve OSHA Outreach Training instructor level status including: 501, 503, 511 to instruct in person classes associated topics.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

     

    • Use of a computer and cloud software to communicate, research, and analyze data associated with training and records.
    • Use of online, remote, conference, and in-person training tools.
    • Understand the principles of learning and development associated with adult learning.
    • Understand how a modern skills for pay training program works and how to apply to industrial systems, safety, and compliance training.
    • Software requirements include, Microsoft 365 Suite, applications on desktop and mobile devices, SharePoint, OneDrive, Database, Adobe Acrobat, and Access It badge software solutions.
    • Use of E learning software, Microsoft Edge, and Google Chrome Browser applications for administering training resources, content, and video instructor and self lead training needs.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    ·         Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of Training Representatives and Training Coordinators daily.  Including physical observation of their work and follow up on assignments.

    • Review upcoming training schedules, maintain outlook appointments for associates and leadership, follow up for orderly planned training sessions onsite and offsite needs.
    • Conducts routine safety, behavioral audits, and monthly topics associated with training team.
    • Assist with outside training partners, vendors, and technical offerings.  Including regular check-ins and observation of work being done.
    • Assist with projects.  Including cross-functional responsibilities.

    ·         Review training completed by IMTs for quality of work, thoroughness, and completion.

    ·         Issue scheduled reports for recertifications and yearly training.  Schedule training for regular recurring classes and for more novel “one-off” corrective action, or specialized training needs classes, sessions, or 3rd party vendor provided items.

    • Conduct crossover meetings with other supervisors and leadership team members for training needs and applications.
    • Issue daily work assignments for training team and training progress on company associates.
    • Facilitate, guide leadership through performance reviews, coaching, and training status of distribution, operations, and maintenance.
    • Maintain ‘Task – Planner application’ list for daily duties of training team, sessions, and action item needs using Microsoft 365.
    • Review work schedules, payroll, and certifications for errors, and approve for official use.
    • Attend staff meetings to review results.
    • Work with enterprise partners to administer, maintain, and update training resources, programs, and associated needs.
    • Partner with Recruiting and Human Resources team to evaluate candidates, review and archive data, apply crosswalk tools to slot and place associates in career paths and rate of pay based on demonstration and scores achieved.  Offer suggestion for placement including role, position, department, and recommendations to leadership team for hiring.
    • Maintain records for associates and ability to communicate details via SharePoint, OneDrive with management team and leaders.

     

    Essential Functions

    ·         Administer mechanical and electrical assessments for Machine Operator, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Planner, Lead, and Supervisor, leadership candidates.

    ·         Consult with operations and maintenance management to provide training solutions and updates to training content request.

    ·         Work and partner with enterprise development team to request new training content, updates, or special needs.

    ·         Present live in-person training, including administering tests and practicals for PIT equipment and associate safety compliance items.

    ·         Motivate associates to complete assigned tasks and encourage growth in their career goals.

    ·         Review completed tasks to ensure associates meet expectations, offer review of status and advancement through coaching.

    ·         Solicit information from associates to improve overall morale and training experience.

    ·         Train new associates on proper ways to complete tasks to meet expectations and business needs.
