Field Technician

  • Objective

    This role will take on the responsibility for the maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for transportation clients throughout the country. We are looking for individuals that will ensure operation and quality of our clients’ equipment.

    Responsibilities

    • Handle inbound telephone calls from customers, supervisors, and other field technicians to provide remote support to troubleshoot problems in the field
    • Expected to occasionally take the lead role for diagnosis and repair of FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles), BEV (Battery-Electric Vehicles), CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), and Diesel/Diesel-Electronic hybrid equipment in the field, as well as commonly take on support roles to manufacturer’s field technicians and field engineering staff
    • Test electrical and mechanical systems, including continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, CAN (Controller Area Network), hydraulic and pneumatic systems and fixtures, using testing devices
    • Remove, replace, and test defective components
    • Responsible for the performance of duties as a fully qualified technician including the initial inspection, and repair of all client equipment in the in the field
    • Configure and support electronic and digital devices used to monitor and control client equipment, including vehicles, chargers, and associated components
    • Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment such as hand tools, electronic testing equipment, laptop, DVOM (Digital Volt Ohm Meter), Digital Oscilloscope, and Insulation Testers, or other diagnostic tools to locate the cause of a failure and correct the problem
    • Capture, import, and organize data for analysis and processing
    • Ensure corrective repairs are identified and reported using warranty claim forms and service reports
    • Travel to various jobsites within the continental US, being a main point of contact for our clients when servicing on-site
    • Accurately report expenses using an expense report
    • Expected travel about 75-100% throughout the United States. Paid mileage, per diem, and all travel expenses

    • Physical requirements such as; ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted, standing for periods up to 4 hours at a time, and walk distances up to 100 meters at a time
    • Flexibility with scheduling, as hours and shift times will vary from client-to-client, generally being first shift core hours
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Must be able to work within all 50 United States
    • Must be willing to be subject to a pre-employment criminal background check and at random drug screening
    • Candidate must have Valid US Driver's License

    Preferred Skills

    · Mechanically or electrically inclined candidates would excel in this role, but not a requirement

    · Hands on systems & equipment maintenance preferred, but not required

    · No minimum experience required, but a general technical interest in the transportation industry is strongly preferred

    Work Environment
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to manufacturing and warehouse-type settings, including moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of environmental conditions at the job site, including working outdoors at times. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

    Physical Demands
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, read, write, and hear English. This position is very active and requires standing for hours, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching. The employee must be able to lift and move items of 50 pounds.
