Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Technical Librarian work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Technical Librarian typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. TYPICAL DUTIES:
The Seabrook Library seeks a friendly, customer service-oriented person to work full-time in our Children’s Department. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
· Assists with the planning and implementation of all programs for children ages 0-12.
· Assists with the selection of materials.
· Responsible for organization and display of children’s materials; maintains room displays and decorations.
· Assists with publicity of children’s programs and materials in print, on social media, and the library website.
· Performs the full range of circulation desk procedures including accurately checking out and checking in materials, taking reserves and requests from patrons, issuing borrower cards and
helping patrons locate materials.
· Assures accurate shelving of books, periodicals, and other library materials.
· Performs related work as required, including ordering materials and supplies.
· Performs or assigns other duties as assigned by the Director.
This full-time position will require one night per week, one Saturday in a rotation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have proficient computer skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, possess a friendly, professional demeanor, and enjoy working with children and patrons of all ages, with a commitment to great customer service. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.
