Utilizes a variety of graphic files, photo images, and sketches to create detailed technical illustrations. Being a Technical Illustrator produces 3-D, cutaway, or exploded views of objects. Familiar and proficient with graphic illustration and CAD software tools. Additionally, Technical Illustrator typically requires an associate degree in art, design, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Technical Illustrator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.     In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service which includes work that involved (1) Experience making complex and detailed technical illustrations, schematics, wiring diagrams, exploded and cutaway views of equipment in the proper sequence of assembly or disassembly using computer-aided design (CAD), ISO Draw and drafting software; (2) Experience estimating time and cost involved in the preparation of item illustration; and (3) Experience taking ownership of artistic quality and accuracy of the illustration to convey factual concepts.

Graphic formats supported by IADS are CGM, SVG, JPG, BMP, G4, TIFF, GIF, PNG, and PIC 4.0. Supported video formats are AVI, WMV, and MPG. Hiring official will facilitiate tehcnical support to confirm submitted samples are IADS-viewable.
