Tier 1 provides after-sales service parts support for OEM's. In addition to the distribution of genuine service parts, the Tier 1 Accessories division develops accessories for OEM's - which are installed on new vehicles in the United States and Canada.
Description
Responsible for identifying and defining safety, compliance and regulatory concerns on OEM Models. Through examination of consumer complaints data, field, reports, legal cases, NHTSA VOQ, and outliers in warranty data, identify possible safety related defects and/or FMVSS non-compliance associated with OEM vehicles. Once identified as a possible issue, use advanced knowledge to conduct a through data-driven, but timely, investigation.
Key Accountabilities:
- Perform customer complaint/warranty claim/field reports/NHTSA VOQ data analysis. (50%)
- Analyze customer complaint reported to NHTSA ODI.
- Analyze OEM warranty claim and filed report.
- Identify possible safety related defects and/or FMVSS non-compliances associated with OEM and OEM (30%)
- Investigate possible safety issue related to Tier 1 Parts with or without OEM and/or OEM Engineers
- OEM and OEM dealer investigation on the field issue (Go & See)
- Track and manage possible safety related issues. (15%)
- Actively track and manage safety issues.
- Keep track of Tier 1 SEL list
- Make draft presentations for management review and submit a report of potential catastrophic issue (5%)
- Draft presentations for management review that clearly defines the issue(s)
- Catch the critical safety issue and report it immediately to upper management
Key Performance Indicators:
- Responsible for monitoring NHTSA VOQ customer complaints/ warranty claim/ field reports/legal cases
- Analyze customer complaints, focused on safety component.
- Monitor daily warranty claim/NHTSA VOQ/Field Report/NHTSA recall.
- Investigate possible safety issues.
- Use advanced knowledge to conduct a thorough data-driven investigation.
- Exercise discretion and independence judgment to determine preliminary severity, occurrence, and detectability scores.
- Track and manage possible safety issues.
- Actively track and manage safety issues through investigation and other sources like warranty, NHTSA VOQ and so on.
- Keep track of Tier 1 SEL list and other safety issues
- Make safety issue report and provide immediate notification to upper management.
- Draft presentations for management review
- Catch a critical safety issue and report it to upper management immediately.
Work schedule/Travel:
- 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Minimal overnight travel (up to 50%) by land and/or air.
Major Challenges and Key Decisions:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must identify/read/analyze the customer's complaints, and completely understand the customer complaint.
- With the customer complaint in mind, work with the team/discuss/discover what the issue of the part is and how should they fix the problem. Diagnose what the real issue is. Discern between consumer personal issue or a vehicle issue. Must be able to make decisions with working with coworkers to see if it is a design issue or a customer issue, and what can be improved.
- This job operates in a professional office environment in addition to a vehicle testing environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Occasionally, testing machinery, testing jigs, and testing software will be utilized.
- Vehicle parts will be handled in appropriate test rooms.
- Also handling of car parts, vehicle driving, vehicle testing, car repair. Removal/attachment of parts. Tools and testing machinery will be utilized.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors
- Mechanical, Electrical Engineering experience
Years of Experience:
- 2-4 years Required
- Good Communication skills
- Basic knowledge of electronic/mechanical components
- Ability to read and understand electronic/mechanical schematics and block diagrams.
- Ability to use basic test equipment.
- Experience in gathering and analyzing statistical data.
- More than 4 years of experience in the automotive industry, including safety, design, testing, field reliability evaluation, and service is preferred.
- Automotive assembly plant or component manufacturing experience a plus.
- Bi-Lingual (English/Korean) preferred
