Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. Develops and implements activities to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in kindergarten classroom setting. Being a Teacher Kindergarten monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Kindergarten assesses and documents students' progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. A Kindergarten Teacher at Monte Cassino School is a dynamic and nurturing individual. Candidates should have an understanding and appreciation of the developmental needs of 5–6-year-old child, a passion for working with this age student, and a solid commitment to professional and ethical standards when working with students, families and colleagues.
An Early Childhood Learning Center Teacher:
· Creates and implements developmentally appropriate activities.
· Provides direct, differentiated instruction for students focusing on 21st century skills such as collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving.
· Evaluates student growth and progress throughout the year.
· Uses classroom management systems that are focused on the student’s social emotional needs.
· Communicates and partners effectively with students, parents, teachers and other professionals regularly.
· Attends all meetings with teaching team, faculty and other professional development opportunities.
· Maintains a patient, kind, and compassionate disposition with children and adults.
· Maintains Catholic Benedictine philosophy in their daily work.
The desired candidate has:
· Minimum of one to two years of teaching experience preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Teaching certification completed or in process with the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
· Clear background and criminal history.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, as required by the position.
· Ability to consistently be at work and on time; arrive at all meetings and appointments on time.
· Ability to set up and maintain a class web page and use e-mail regularly as a communication tool. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software, internet software, digital camera software and word processing software.
· Ability to look beyond the standard solutions and display original thinking and creativity.
· Strong organization skills, abilities to prioritize and plan work activities, and time management skills.
· Ability to inspire oneself and others to reach a goal and/or perform to the best of their ability. This competency asks the question “How well do you inspire yourself and others?”.
· Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness and generate suggestions for improving work; ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas and be able to present ideas and information in a respectful manner.
