Overview: 

The Tax Manager position will manage and facilitate the accurate preparation and filing of tax related items and ensure compliance with federal, state and local jurisdictions. This position will work with the store teams, campus accounting and leadership team to identify opportunities for process improvement as well as potential areas of risk. The Tax Manager will monitor multi-state current and impending changes to tax regulation and make the appropriate updates to procedures, policies and strategies.

Responsibilities: 

• Review and ensure accurate, timely filing of required tax and informational returns, including but not limited to:
  • Federal and state income tax
  • Sales and use tax 
  • Unclaimed property
  • Business personal property 
  • Corporation census reports
  • Corporation annual reports
• Manage and coordinate tax audits, inquiries and notices
• Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
• Provide support with various internal audits and special tax related projects
• Improve processes by developing and implementing best practices
• Manage and mentor members of tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement
• Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business
• Minimum of five or more years of accounting or finance experience and 2 years of experience in management role preferred
• Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations, multiple state tax laws, and compliance reporting
• Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks and the tasks of other tax team members
• Experience in developing, monitoring and streamlining accounting processes
• MBA, CMA or CPA preferred

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation
