Tax Manager jobs in Texas

Tax Manager is responsible for managing the tax accounting staff and the tax planning, reporting, and compliance functions. Oversees the preparation of all tax filings and reporting in compliance with all required regulations. Being a Tax Manager evaluates the tax implications of company activities and develops strategies to minimize the tax obligations. Advises management on future changes to tax regulations and possible impact to the organization. Additionally, Tax Manager may manage and direct relationships with vendors and advisors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to Tax Director or Top Tax Executive. The Tax Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Tax Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. You’ll gain a global perspective and an awareness of tax issues stemming from changes to evolving business structures and geographic expansions. Our team provides our clients with investment advice based on expected tax leakage and associated tax risk. You’ll focus on assessing global tax risk for an offshore entity based on its operating jurisdictions and offering investment solution to minimise risk exposure.

    Additional Educational Preferences:

    A Juris Doctorate (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), or Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation field of study will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor Degree in Accounting

    Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

    Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:

    • Assisting financial services companies and investment firms/managers to understand and assess the tax impact of their operations and cross border M&A transactions;
    • Researching tax and consulting within an international taxation environment with a focus of M&A. Prior tax due diligence experience preferred;
    • Assisting in tax structuring of funds and investments, and improvement of tax efficiencies of cross-border flows and exits to enhance investor returns; and,
    • Considerable knowledge of public accounting practices, law firm or corporate tax department of a multinational company.

    Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment with varying deliverables and changing requirements, utilizing technical skills in the following areas:

    • Analyzing structural realignment, cash and financial statement effective; and,
    • Improving tax efficiencies of cross border flows in an M&A context.

    Demonstrates extensive experience identifying and addressing client needs including the following areas:

    • Building, maintaining, and utilizing networks of client relationships and community involvement;
    • Communicating value propositions;
    • Managing resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing and collections; and,
    • Preparing and/or coordinating complex written and verbal materials.

    Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success as tax technical business advisor, including the following:

    • Developing new relationships, making introductions to sell new services and doing so with a "One Firm" service mindset;
    • Exhibiting familiarity with a CRM system;
    • Supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust;
    • Seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation; and,
    • Coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.

    Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in automation & digitization in a professional services environment including but not limited to:

    • Innovating through new and existing technologies, along with experimenting with digitization solutions;
    • Working with large, complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools to provide insights to clients; and,
    • Utilizing digitization tools to reduce hours and optimize engagements.

    Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in alternative fee arrangements, including the use of pricing tools, to provide a point of view on pricing strategies.
