The Tax Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Monolith’s domestic and international tax-related matters including ASC740 income tax provision, reserves and related financial disclosures, transfer pricing and implementation of tax strategies to optimize tax. This position will design operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency. The Tax Director involves significant interaction with external auditors, finance staff, and process owners in other functions. This role will hire, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Why we want to know You:- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with an emphasis in tax, or equivalent experience
- 15 years of relevant tax experience working at an accounting firm and/or multi-national company
- CPA or MBA is advantageous
- You have a proven track record of applying stakeholder management and communication skills to influence and/or drive initiatives across the organization
- You have successfully developed and led a team with a positive, team-focused approach while demonstrating strengths in team leadership, technical skills, and communication
- Experience with tax research software, working with a client or company's large ERP systems, like Oracle, Peoplesoft, SAP, etc.
- Exposure to indirect tax issues, including sales tax, VAT, and GST; familiarity with third-party indirect tax systems
What you'll do in the role:- Be the trusted subject matter expert for all things tax-related domestically and internationally. You will play a key role in helping us establish an internal tax function and develop a future-state vision for the team
- Reporting to the CAO, the Tax Director will cover all areas of tax, including federal, state, and local income/franchise tax, and indirect taxes, as well as manage/execute the processes related to transfer pricing, legal entity setup/review, tax provision, inter-company agreements, and tax audits
- Manage the ASC 740 tax provision process, from planning and forecasting to calculations, recording, analysis, and reporting, including the company’s tax-related financial statement disclosures, tax impacts of share-based compensation, and documenting uncertain tax positions
- Assist in structuring operations for a multinational group of entities to achieve tax-efficient international transactions
- Assist in the calculation and review of tax provision impacts related to restructurings, including M&A or internal reorganizations, and the financial statement impacts of potential tax law changes
- Remain current with changes in relevant statutory and tax compliance regulations, as well as guidance to identify and analyze the impact of such changes on company business initiatives
- Lead, supervise, and improve the tax accounting processes and delivery schedule
- Develop and maintain strong internal control processes
- Develop and lead the team, including mentoring, continued development of technical skills, and maintaining and enhancing team dynamics
- Work with external financial statement auditors and tax advisors
- Develop strategic, operational, and tactical plans to support our near and long-term business plans, including domestic and international expansion and other strategic initiatives
- Prepare materials for the CFO, CAO, and Board as required to educate on material tax issues
- Perform other duties, as needed
Your environment:- This position will be based in an open office environment in our Overland Park, KS office. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM.
