*This position is located in our Westlake, OH office but eligible for a hybrid remote schedule.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Accountant I - Tax actively participates in and supports the process for filing federal 990-T and respective state tax returns for clients with UBTI and UDFI tax accountabilities. This position shares responsibility to monitor, report and reconcile state withholding obligations, and process timely remittances and filings to state taxing authorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Uses various software applications and databases to assemble, manipulate, and analyze data and/or reports
- Analyzes, organizes, and allocates information for accurate data entry to tax returns; ensures all tax filings and payments are made in a timely manner
- Assists with the reconciliation of the state withholding and 990T bank accounts on a timely basis, researches discrepancies
- Responds to notices/inquiries from state and federal taxing authorities
- Participates in day-to-day maintenance of complete and accurate tax related information
- Updates the process manuals for procedural and/or system changes
- Responds to client inquiries within established service level agreements
- Researches tax related issues; reviews state filing requirements
- Monitors withholding and 990T tax amounts in the corporate bank accounts
- Works with business counterparts to streamline processes and improve data integrity
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, or similar; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments on time
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of UDFI and UBTI
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of ProSystems Tax or similar software is a plus

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to speak and hear. The associate is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. This job requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
