Income Tax Accountant

  • Summary of Position (Job Purpose)  - Assist with the administration of the income and franchise tax function; including the preparation of tax filings, tax payments, financial accounting, as well as, other tax related special projects.  This position requires an analytical thinker and a strong team player.
     
    Principal Duties and Responsibilities  
    1. Assist in the preparation of the income tax provision workpapers
    2. Assist in the preparation of the federal and multi state income tax workpapers and tax forms
    3. Prepare quarterly income and franchise tax estimated payments
    4. Assist in the analytics and maintenance of the tax depreciation calculations
    5. Assist management with federal and state income/franchise tax audits
    6. Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of tax compliance software
    7. Assist in the preparation of correspondence sent to taxing authorities.
    8. Perform monthly tax account reconciliations
    9. Maintain corporate tax records in a timely and accurate manner
    10. Assist in the preparation of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance documentation
    11. Stay abreast of current tax law changes and increase tax knowledge through continuing education and training
    Minimum Requirements/Qualifications 
    1. BA or BS degree is required
    2. 2-5yrs Corporate Tax experience or equivalent public accounting experience or a Masters in a related field
    3. Technical Research Skills
    4. Strong PC skills including MS Office
    5. Good interpersonal and communication skills – both written & verbal
    6. Good problem solving skills
     
    Desired Qualifications
    1. CPA candidate desired
    2. Experience in preparing Federal and state corporate tax returns
    3. Experience with tax compliance software desired
