    Department Overview
    The Office of Human Resources is responsible for developing a vision, strategy and environment to engage, empower and involve the university's human capital, in the present and onwards. This includes employee and labor relations, finance, administration, strategic planning, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, total rewards and administration of UC retirement operations.

    Position Summary
    The Systemwide Associate Director of Talent Development works in collaboration with UC leadership at all locations, independently utilizing and applying wide-ranging experience and proficiency in talent management, organization development, business process analysis, change management, and strategic planning on projects that have systemwide impact involving multiple organizations and stakeholders. Uses advanced organizational development professional concepts and organization objectives to resolve complex organizational development, design and effectiveness issues. Regularly works on highly complex issues of strategic engagements where analysis of circumstances and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement within the state of California. The selected candidate must reside within the state of California or be willing to relocate.

    Key Responsibilities

    60% Provides collaborative leadership and consultation, strategic planning, design and facilitation, and project management on complex problems to achieve strategically aligned talent solutions that influence and support the career and professional development of diverse individual contributors and manager employees. Lead and manage all program administration, implementation, curriculum development, facilitation, assessment, and reporting of the systemwide UC Women's Initiative for Professional Development program.

    10% Applies advanced organizational development concepts to perform highly complex technical analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and / or resource allocations.

    10% Exercises wide judgment in selecting and developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining appropriate results and resolution of organizational readiness, workforce and talent development, and organizational effectiveness issues.

    10% Leads multi campus/location and cross-functional teams to solve complex organizational talent issues. Guides and advises less experienced organizational consultants.

    5% Assesses complex situations, identifies desired improvements, works with UC systemwide clients to address issues and implement organizational talent solutions in alignment with strategic goals.

    5% Understands business needs and ensures that systems, both technical and non-technical, can support those needs.

    Experience
    Required Qualifications

    Minimum 8 years of experience developing and delivering talent management programs and resources including management and career development, professional development, and organizational development.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Minimum 7 years of experience leading or managing talent management and organizational development in a large, decentralized, complex organization.

    Professional experience working in the University of California or other diverse, public, postsecondary academic institution or other environment of similar complexity and size.

    Demonstrated advanced knowledge of workforce planning and talent development to achieve successful organizational outcomes. organizational development and effectiveness to assess, design and implement customized, strategic organization interventions.

    Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities and awareness of stakeholder client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints.

    Demonstrated strong analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills.

    Superior written, verbal and presentation skills to successfully produce effective communications, documents, proposals, and reports; make advanced presentations, facilitate meetings and programs; influence and gain acceptance of decisions; advise and motivate broad and diverse target audience level and needs.

    Demonstrated strong strategic-thinking and consulting skills, relationship building, influencing, advising in guiding the organization with diverse target audience levels and needs toward workable strategies and solutions.

    Ability to facilitate and influence people at all levels. Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations. Ability to handle multiple constituencies, agendas, engagements and tasks, and to deal productively with ambiguity and conflict.

    Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and development of metrics and process to assess training impacts and business value.

    Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained; sound judgment; ability to draw unbiased conclusions.

    Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision.

    Knowledge of the consulting process to effectively lead engagements from inception to conclusion.

    Demonstrated high level ability to navigate complex organizational cultures and structures.

    Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge applying principals of psychology, adult learning theory, innovative facilitation and coaching methodologies, organizational diagnosis, and organization and business strategies.

    Demonstrated strong ability to identify and implement metrics to assess and analyze individual and organizational performance.

    Facilitation experience using various management and talent development multi-rater assessments, organizational development, and talent management resources and tools.

    Demonstrated self-awareness and active commitment and engagement with others to enhance equity, diversity, and inclusion in decisions and actions.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Knowledge of Federal and California employment laws, and University of California employee policies.

    Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master's Degree in Organization Development, Human Resources, or related area.

    Licenses and Certifications
    Preferred Qualifications

    Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources with CA certification (SPHR-CA) or similar professional certification or designation.

    Strategic Workforce Planning, Succession Planning, or related certifications.

    Management multi-rater assessments, organizational development, and talent management resources and tools certifications.

    Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP)

    Travel Requirements
    15% Travel for systemwide programs, meetings, or conferences.

It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
