The creation of the Systems Technician position would allow for consistent supervision and qualified oversight of the programs and accompanying contracts. A Systems Technician would reduce the work load from sworn staff allowing them to focus on daily police operations.
The Systems Technician position ensures maintenance and repair of the college’s alarm systems, and key management system. S/he performs routine troubleshooting and problem resolution on-site.
In addition to these duties, this position performs other tasks assigned by the Chief of Police or his/her designee to include, clerical and customer service duties for students, faculty/staff, and the public both in person and by telephone. The Systems Technician must work effectively with private vendors who provide installation and/or maintenance of various systems used to ensure campus services for GTCC. This also includes the scheduling and coordination of repairs necessary for these systems. The Systems Technician must work in conjunction with members of the Campus Police Department in the delivery of professional police services.
Mid Salary $38,727.09 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience. Duties/Functions
- Provide maintenance and troubleshoot support for the college’s alarm systems, video management system and key management system.
- Completes documentation such as maintenance records forms on time.
- Works with vendors on warranty issues and problem resolution
- Performs system and problem analysis on Service Requests
- Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of personal computers, and the Genetec video management system
- Uses good judgement based on organizational policies and expectations
- Performs routine equipment maintenance and scheduled repairs
- Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

- Balancing daily challenges with automating / documenting procedures and repairs
- Managing ongoing projects and high priority daily break/fix issues
- Managing Service Requests with insufficient information

Education Required
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Education Preferred Experience Required
- One year of experience in a technical support related field.
Experience Preferred
- Experience with Simplex (Johnson) fire alarm systems.
- Experience in commercial key management systems.
KSA Required
- Demonstrates knowledge of physical security systems ( access control)
- Demonstrates knowledge in Fire alarm systems.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills
KSA Preferred Department/Job Specific Requirements
- Must have a valid NC driver’s license
