Systems Consultant/Engineering Manager oversees the design of enablement plans and configuration specifications and installation operations to implement integrated hardware and software systems and products purchased by customers.     The Ground Systems & Services (GSS) Strategic Business Unit is responsible for driving business growth in the ground systems development, operations & sustainment, and technical services markets. This business unit focuses on designing, building and integrating ground systems in support of air and space-based assets, providing operational support for mission platforms and instruments and offering scientific and engineering expertise to our customers.

    What You'll Do:
    • Identify, research, monitor and lead pursuits for potential business opportunities associated with laser technologies within the local and national Government-related markets. Potential for non-U.S. markets opportunities is also within scope.
    • Use the BAE business development process for managing and tracking pursuit and investment decisions.
    • Manage the development and communication of strategies and roadmaps for sustaining and growing existing business.
    • Lead the preparation of proposals, rough-order-of-magnitudes (ROMs), request for information (RFI) responses, and white papers as required to secure business sustainment and growth.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with other business development personnel and technical staff within the BAE Systems, Inc., or our approved teammates, organization to pursue larger synergistic opportunities.
    • Develop informational material to support proposal preparation, business development and general marketing.
    • Attend Government sponsored industry days, trade shows, and other business-related information gathering and connecting events.
    • Manage new business overhead budgets and associated projects for assigned area.
    • Participate in the IR&D coordination and development process for assigned business area.
    • Conduct analysis to identify relevant information pertaining to business pursuits of interest. Ensure proposed solutions will close on mission requirements or stated objectives.
    • Collaborate with other technologists, researchers, engineers to understand existing or near-term capabilities for formulating business pursuits.
    • As required, operate as a program lead with assigned technical staff and infrastructure personnel (contracts, talent acquisition, security, supply chain management, etc.) to stand up and execute new business opportunities. In general, operate as an "acting" program manager until a permanent program manager can assume the responsibilities.
    • Exhibit exceptional communication skills.
    • Follow Department of Defense procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information.
    • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
    • Perform other duties as necessary.
    On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

    Working Conditions:
    • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills
    • BS/BA in related field plus 10 years or more related experience.
    • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
    • Demonstrated and recognized expertise in area related to Laser Technologies.
    • Demonstrated experience with business development.
    • Demonstrated experience working in an engineering or research environment.
    • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance.
    • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
    • Degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics preferred.
    • MS or PhD preferred.

    Pay Information
    Full-Time Salary Range: $144000 - $199000

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
