POLICY ANALYST (ARCTIC SECURITY)

    • You will serve as the principal investigator or study director for civilian, military, or contractor study groups with responsibility for a wide variety of assignments characterized by their broad scope of intensity of investigation.
    • You will collaborate on multidisciplinary studies tying diverse aspects of security and climate scient to national security.
    • You will perform professional and scientific work requiring the design, development, and adaptation of mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques.
    • You will provide advice and insight regarding the probable effects of alternative courses of action in support of joint operational research and analytical studies and activities in the USEUCOM area of responsibility.
    • You will present study results, findings, and recommendations verbally and in writing.
    • You will conduct research on Arctic security, analyze requirements and developments in domestic and foreign policy, and make original and innovative contributions on Arctic security issues.
    • You will publish results of this original research and analysis in journals, monographs, anthologies, and books.
    • You will maintain professional relationships with policy makers in the Department of Defense, Department of State, and leading authorities in areas of specialization.
    • You will work closely with the staff and faculty to support research and studies in the School of Arctic and Climate Security Studies.
    • You will serve as the Center’s Arctic Security Policy subject matter expert.
    • You will support fellowships, curriculum development, courseware, and classroom presentations as needed. Guides, mentors, and supports academic fellows assigned to the School of Arctic and Climate Security Studies.
    • You will provide advice to the Center’s leadership, to fellow analysts, and to the educational element of the Center in areas of expertise.
    • You will advise on program decisions related to areas of expertise, topics of study for individual and group research methods, and preparation of reports and papers.
    • You will engage in professional outreach through participation in roundtables, conferences, workshops, tabletop exercises, simulations, and other academic events sponsored by or of direct interest to the Center.

    Qualifications

    Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience: planning, developing, and preparing research in fields of security policy, military strategy, security cooperation, and related subject matters and identifying research objectives and methodologies to answer research questions at the operational and strategic levels.

    • Combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as described above.
