Switchboard Operator operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls. Answers incoming calls and basic questions, transfers calls to extensions, and responds to emergency situations as necessary. Being a Switchboard Operator monitors the phone system's efficiency and performs routine troubleshooting. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Switchboard Operator typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Switchboard Operator may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Communications Operator for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Evening position. Hourly compensation is $17.06- $28.01; hiring rate dependent on qualifications and professional experience. Evening differential $1.50/hr on base pay. Hours are Monday- Friday shift 3:30pm -12:00pm with 30 minute lunch.
This position is responsible facilitating communications through appropriate operation of one or all of the following: the telephone console (switchboard); physician answering service; overhead paging; two-way radios; and pager system.
