Job Summary
The Sustainability Analyst Manager role is for individuals who have demonstrated a proficiency and subject matter expertise in sustainability. This position helps Duke Energy be an industry leader in sustainability, and enhances the company's reputation, increase transparency on our clean energy transition progress, and support the company's corporate strategies. This position will report to the Managing Director of ESG and Sustainability.
The Sustainability Analyst Manager will
- Provide benchmarking and trends analysis related to Duke Energy's progress and reporting transparency. Perform benchmarking of utility peers, and research other sectors' trends, related to sustainable business
- Perform analytics and high-level modeling of company performance which are a point of distinction, or opportunity. Develop materials to demonstrate visual impact of performance.
- Support Policy team as project manager related to trade association quarterly meetings and quarterly Earnings calls (EEI, BRT, and project management with the IR team). Develop slides and memos for executive management.
- Manage stakeholder materiality review using the Datamaran program. This includes ongoing analysis of today's top issues and identification of (and monitoring/assessment) of future issues relevant to our sector
- Coordinate within the Strategic Engagement team to compile materials for high profile stakeholder meetings as well as team presentations; support reporting and disclosure team to ensure relevancy and timeliness of reported information.
- Leverage polling data and economic analysis to support broader Duke Energy commitments. Conduct desktop research and industry benchmarking to refine the fact base about the positive economic benefits and value Duke Energy creates for customers and communities
- Prepare materials for the Environmental Social and Governance Strategy & Disclosure Committee to ensure timely review of information.
- Continue to ensure business continuity as voluntary disclosures transition from voluntary to mandatory.
- Use problem solving and conflict management skills to resolve challenges
Responsibilities
- Develop materials (PowerPoint, charts/graphs) to support Strategic Engagement team, adjacent cross-functional teams, and Environmental Social and Governance Strategy & Disclosure Committee.
- Perform analytics and high-level modeling of company performance on clean energy transition issues which are a point of distinction, or opportunity. Develop materials to demonstrate visual impact of performance. Manage stakeholder materiality review.
- Support development of materials and brief, in concert with Policy team, related to trade association meetings and internal support of teams like Investor Relations, Corp Comm, etc.
Basic/Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, law, communications, business or other related degree
- In addition to bachelor's degree, seven (7) years minimum of related work experience

Working Conditions
- It is expected and preferred that this position be based in Charlotte, NC. However, the hiring manager may elect to fill with a highly qualified individual at any Duke Energy regional office location.
- This position will be located primarily in an office environment, and travel to various locations is anticipated and will vary, 10-25% on average.
- Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.
