The Sustainability Analyst works directly with the Sustainability and Impact Manager to develop best-in-class Sustainability reporting for AES' US renewable energy portfolio. The Sustainability Analyst will create and implement data structures across the business unit that allow AES to differentiate itself from industry peers and develop insights into key sustainability performance needs across the business unit. The Sustainability Analyst will support the Sustainability and Impact team in implementation of performance initiatives, working towards a clean energy future that is at the highest standards of sustainability performance. While the position will work directly on Sustainability for AES' US renewable energy portfolio, the position will work closely with AES' Global Impact team to ensure alignment and an all-together approach to meeting the highest standards.
Sustainability Analyst primary job responsibilities:
Sustainability and ESG Reporting:
Work across AES' US renewable energy portfolio to implement clear data collection structures that meet our reporting needs.
Manage organizational use of our digital reporting tools.
Responsible for the creation of the AES US renewable energy Quarterly and Annual Sustainability reports to key investor groups.
Responsible for AES' US Renewable energy framework and benchmark reporting efforts, such as completion of the GRESB Assessment annually.
Support customer requested ESG disclosures.
Support Social Impact program shifts and reporting requirements.
Track and analyze ESG reporting best practices and ensure alignment with current standards.
Analyze ESG related reports and performance gaps to better understand areas that AES' US renewable energy portfolio needs performance improvements.
Analyze ESG data to identify project level performance gaps as well as organizational performance gaps.
Sustainability Performance:
Utilize insights gained from sustainability data to work with the Project Sustainability Lead and Sustainability and Impact Manager to implement key performance initiatives such as circularity, land stewardship, and strategic partnerships.
Elevate AES' ESG performance through developing best-in-class ESG reporting. Create a pathway for AES' US renewable energy business unit to be the highest-ranking industry member on the GRESB Assessment.
Work with procurement teams to educate suppliers and vendors on sustainability to decrease our scope 3 emissions footprint.
Work with the Sustainability and Impact Manager to develop AES Clean Energy's Sustainability strategy and drive market transformation.
Administrative Support and Other Duties as Assigned:
Support administrative tasks such as Social Impact Program Approvals and Process improvements.
Network with colleagues and company leadership in relevant and dedicated events, lunch and learns and speaker series'.
Participate in formalized AES-specific learning opportunities to further your knowledge and understanding towards accelerating the responsible energy transition.
Support the Sustainability and Impact Manager by organizing leadership and board sustainability report-out presentations.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Undergraduate degree, preferably in Sustainability, Environmental Management and Protection, Business, Communications or equivalent.
Experience in the energy sector with a preference for renewable energy experience.
A background in ESG reporting and willingness to learn.
A passion to strive for a more sustainable energy future.
Sharp analytical skills to quickly analyze complex situations, determine key issues and implement strategic initiatives.
Ability to engage with senior management, as well as diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects at once, under deadline.
Strong interpersonal skills, including consultation, negotiation, facilitation, risk communication and conflict resolution.
Hands-on, hard-working team player who has a sense of ownership and is eager to support projects from a variety of angles.
Ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort working cross-functionally and developing consensus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Global mentality and comfort with working with people from multiple different backgrounds and cultures.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Proficient with MS Office Suite, QuickBase, Box, Microsoft Teams.
