JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs technical work analyzing, maintaining and repairing the servers, networking and camera equipment used to observe on-site gaming operations and related activities for the Tribal Gaming Commission.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is intended only to illustrate the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or is a logical assignment to the position.
1. Assures continuity of the surveillance system equipment for all users; repairs equipment hardware as necessary to ensure compliance with gaming compacts and internal controls; works closely with service vendors to ensure continuity of service.
2. Installs, configures, updates, maintains, and troubleshoots all surveillance servers, RAIDs, and switches, including installation of all operating systems and other necessary software.
3. Manually places, guides/pulls, and replaces feeder lines and cables through tiles, false ceilings, clouds, landings and other roof coverings throughout the entire Casino(s) and Bingo Hall areas.
4. Researches products and applicability to organizational environment; recommends changes in equipment to improve surveillance capabilities and to most effectively utilize Commission resources.
5. Programs IP assignments and network channels. Assigns various levels of permissions to end users.
6. Confers with vendors; researches and evaluates equipment additions, replacements, upgrades and makes recommendations for purchase; purchases equipment as approved.
7. Able to maintain and keep any CCTV equipment certifications (Digital, IP). Must be able to stay up to date with new equipment technology and be able to apply knowledge in real-world situations.
8. Provides technical assistance and advice to staff and managers.
9. Uses video cameras, computers and related electronic equipment to closely monitor and record activities in the Casino and Bingo properties.
10. Monitors and looks for unusual occurrences and deviations via CCTV from established procedures, controls and regulations. Uses knowledge, skills, and abilities to interpret/evaluate these unusual occurrences and deviations.
11. Uses communication tools to dispatch/advise Enforcement field agents and/or Casino operations of any required or unusual incidents on the Casino or Bingo properties. Primary dispatchers of emergency services.
12. Uses information from incoming calls and observations to complete daily logs of all required and unusual activities. Prepares detailed reports on all incidents and unusual occurrences and maintains any other applicable records, documents and files in accordance within departmental guidelines and other applicable rules.
13. Conducts all reviews of video or any special watches within departmental guidelines, or as directed by management.
14. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION (required and preferred):
Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Three (3) years’ experience installing, repairing and maintaining CCTV systems, camera installation, server administration and/or network related equipment. Networking fundamentals training or experience. Basic server administration.
Preferred: Certified in various video and electronic equipment
Special requirements: Incumbents must be able to pass a background investigation; meet the criteria for a gaming license and pass a drug and alcohol test.
SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
Skilled in: Attention to detail; use of independent judgment; working independently; communicating both verbally and in writing; following oral and written instruction; customer service; adapting to changes in workload; prioritizing work; operating standard office equipment, personal computers, and other electronic equipment as it relates to the performance of work; configuring Surveillance network, any attached peripherals, and desktop hardware and software.
Knowledge of: Computer, Electronic, Networking, and Video technologies and methodologies; Honeywell Video Management Systems, basic computer, networking, video and electronic troubleshooting techniques; General office principles and practices; gaming practices and procedures (table games and video gaming devices); basic legal processes; interpersonal and human relations.
Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality; follow through and complete assignments; take initiative; maintain and keep up to date with gaming practices and strategies used in cheating games and devices; acquire knowledge of specialized terminology relevant to position; learn repair methods and become certified in applicable video and electronic equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class/job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, crawl, kneel, crouch, twist, push/pull and grasp; use hands to operate, finger repetitively, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Employee has occasional exposure to possible electrical shock. The employee must be able to climb tall ladders, enter and exit crawl spaces and access ceilings and rooftops while performing portions of the job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
