Performs emergency procedures including endotracheal tube intubation, tube thoracostomy, pericardiocentesis, ultrosonographic evaluation, and peritoneal lavage. Being a Surgeon - Trauma reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Trauma may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Orthopedic Trauma Surgery: Perform a broad range of orthopedic trauma surgeries, including complex fracture repairs, soft tissue injuries, and emergency procedures. Demonstrate proficiency in trauma care protocols and interventions.
Patient Care: Conduct thorough assessments, diagnosis, and develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients with orthopedic trauma conditions. Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
Collaboration: Collaborate with trauma surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated trauma care. Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and contribute to the development of trauma care protocols.
Education: Contribute to the education and training of medical students, residents, and healthcare staff in the area of orthopedic trauma surgery. Stay informed about the latest advancements in orthopedic trauma care and share knowledge within the team.
