Surgeon - Trauma jobs in District of Columbia

Surgeon - Trauma examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats critically injured patients. Performs emergency procedures including endotracheal tube intubation, tube thoracostomy, pericardiocentesis, ultrosonographic evaluation, and peritoneal lavage. Being a Surgeon - Trauma reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Trauma may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice.     Main tasks include:

    Remote Trauma Registrar

    Maintains current accurate data within the trauma registry by collecting, entering, retrieving and reporting data related to all trauma patients. Abstracts appropriate data to provide documentation in support of George Washington University Hospital Level I designation by the District of Columbia and verification by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

    Qualifications

    Qualification

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • 2 years related experience.
    • Previous experience with Collector Trauma Registry preferred.
    • Completion of American Trauma Society Trauma Registrar course preferred
    • Able to speak and write English Fluently
    • Demonstrated communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology
    • Demonstrated ability to perform in at least one of the following areas chart review, performance improvement, medical record data abstraction, management of date entry and databases.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office
