Operating Room Nurse

Billings Plastic Surgery (BPS) is a practice that offers the entire spectrum of plastic surgery, a highly experienced and expert staff, and which provides a warm, friendly, family-like atmosphere to their patients.

The registered nurse is instrumental in the care provided to Billings Plastic Surgery. From the initial consultation through the patient’s final visit, the nurse provides patient education, fields phone calls, assists with procedures, and provides the care necessary to ensure the patient’s needs are met in the office, pre/post-operative setting, and the operating room. The Operating Room Nurse is the patient advocate and assures that quality care is administered.

Duties:

• Circulate cases in the Operating Room where duties include connecting monitors, assisting anesthesia, positioning & prepping the patient, obtaining necessary supplies for cases including implants, and applying appropriate dressings & garments.
• Performs surgical counts with the Surgical Tech and administers medications to the sterile field.
• Advocates and ensures safety for the patient in their vulnerable state.
• Cleans the OR and anesthesia machine between cases.
• Deep cleans and stocks supplies and medications in the OR per schedule.
• Assists with the cleaning, wrapping, and sterilization of instruments.
• Assists with the facility laundry.
• Manages implant consignment.
• Maintains a constant state of readiness for Quad A including coordination of on-site surveys and semi-annual peer reviews.

Minimum Qualifications:

• All nurses must have their license to practice in the state of Montana and maintain re-licensure requirements.
• Minimum of two years of Operating Room nursing experience.
• Has successfully completed basic CPR course and ability to obtain ACLS within first six months of hire.

Physical Demands:

• Requires light-lifting 20 lbs maximum with frequent lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs
• Occasional: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, filing, driving, and exposure to heat, cold, dust, vapors, and fumes.
• Frequent: standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, typing, Xeroxing, and exposure to noise and odors.
• Constant: talking, hearing.

Pay Range:

$41.00 - $45.00 per hour depending on qualifications.
