Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients that have abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors, or disease. Performs surgery to improve functions and to approximate a normal appearance. Being a Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Our four-year DOL (Department of Labor)-approved apprenticeship is a paid on-the-job program that will take you through a progressive technical career while attending college. This program will provide you with the benefit of a varied learning environment that promotes hands-on learning. Your first step will be to start as a press operator for six months, understanding the ins and outs of the different presses and parts that we run on a daily basis. Followed by a material technician for 12 months, learning about all the different resins, temperatures, planning for up-coming jobs, etc. From there, you will move to the third stage as a mold setter for one year and a half, supporting current mold setters to set up new jobs from many other duties. In your final year of apprenticeship, you will join our experienced Plastic Process Technician for one-on-one training on how to establish standards, develop process sheets for mold tooling, configure and setup production molds while processing new and existing production runs, and more.

· Safety. Work in a safe manner, follow all safety policies and procedures, and alert the supervisor immediately about any safety issues in the facility. · Quality. Follow all processes and make recommendations for improvement to the supervisor. · Cost. Review mold set up and start up methodology for improvement and make recommendations to the supervisor. · Teamwork. Interact with other positions (supervisor, process engineer, material handler, operator, etc.) to ensure mold set ups, startups, and shutdowns are smooth and efficient. · Work with Shift Supervisor and Material Handler to ensure the understanding of the daily production schedule and what jobs need to be set in the Work Centers. · Verify Process Controls of existing presses running including but not limited to: · Mold Temperature, Barrel Temperature, Cycle Time, Material Moisture Checks if splay exists, Checking Nozzle Leaks. · Set Molds & Start Jobs · Pull mold from mold storage area. · Pull appropriate thermolators, DME units, eye bolts, hoses and hydraulic units for each mold set including any required fixtures or gages for quality assurance. · Review the Quality Book to ensure understanding of key issues regarding setting of specific mold. · Lock-out Press to ensure safety during mold installation. · When appropriate, work as a team with the other mold setter to set mold. · Follow mold setup work instructions and procedures. · Start Press · Use process defined by Process Engineer and already loaded in the press. · Follow mold start-up work instructions and procedures. · Ensure 1st piece approved is obtained and operator hand-off is completed. |
· Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices · Work closely with the Production Shift Supervisors to evaluate, train, and develop the Operators in the operation of the molding machines. · Establish standards and develop process sheets for mold tooling. · Configure and setup production molds while processing new and existing production runs. · Monitor and control product weight, color, and thickness during set-up · Complete mold changes, including both new and existing molds, participate in resin trials, and equipment installation, etc., as required. · Complete setups in accordance with production schedules including the setup of the injection press and any auxiliary equipment. · Evaluate mold change and setup time reductions, while maintaining part quality. · Optimize cycle time and perform set-up, start-up and change overs. · Identifies and corrects problems: applies scientific knowledge and experience in making adjustments and trains others in areas of expertise; documents changes; addresses questionable parts; and monitors and focuses on scrap reduction. · Regular & prompt attendance at work · Interacting with clients & coworkers; professional & respectful. · Overtime and rotating shift, where applicable · Other tasks as assigned |
