Surgeon - Orthopedic examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. Performs surgical procedures to immobilize fractures by using corrective devices such as braces, pins, casts, and splints. Being a Surgeon - Orthopedic reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Orthopedic may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to a medical director. Requires a license to practice.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    The orthopedic Services Technician provides high quality, patient centered care by assisting with the treatment needs of patients primarily with musculoskeletal and bone disorders and providing general care and support to patients who have undergone surgery or other orthopedic treatments.


    What you will do in this role:

    • You will oversee orthopedic device needs including ensuring adequate supplies are available for immediate use including traction (Bucks and skeletal), casting and splinting supplies
    • You will assemble, maintain and adjust orthopedic traction devices, assess patients in traction, detect deficiencies in the apparatus and make adjustments as necessary
    • You will assist therapy staff with patients and other duties as deemed appropriate by supervisor
    • You will explain Treatment plans, research technical aspects of bracing, complete documentation to ensure proper billing and manage inventory
    • You will measure, fit and dispense braces, casts and splints, perform minor adjustments and repairs as well as fabricate splints for various conditions under the director of physician

    What qualifications you will need:
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support
    • National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists, Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) through American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP) OR Associates degree or certificate from a NAOT Recognized School and Program OR Certified Athletic Trainer with added Certification in Orthotic Fitting
