Surgeon - Neurology jobs in New York

Surgeon - Neurology examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats disorders of the brain, spine, spinal cord, and nerves. Operates on the brain in order to relieve pressure in an intracranial hemorrhage, remove a foreign body such as a tumor, treat a wound, or relieve pain. Being a Surgeon - Neurology operates on the spine in order to free entrapped nerves, correct deformity, or restore spinal stability. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Additionally, Surgeon - Neurology determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. May provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. With locations in Buffalo and Williamsville, we offer a full range of procedural services including EEG, EMG, adult and child neuropsychologic testing, an infusion clinic for intravenous therapies and neuroimaging interpretation. We are closely allied to two Kaleida Health hospitals, Buffalo General Medical Center and Oishei Children's Hospital.

    Reports to: Practice Manager/ Medical Office Supervisor

    Pay Range: $17-$22 hourly

    Position Summary: Provides services to patients in a courteous, confidential, respectful, and timely manner. Instills confidence in callers, visitors, patients, and coworkers by remaining well informed. Demonstrates ability to handle new, unusual, or difficult situations and use good judgment in being responsive to the patients' needs. Works effectively and offers a teamwork attitude. Routinely reports to Clinic Manager/Supervisor on patient issues, maintains professional attendance, and asks for training when needed. Has a commitment to own professional growth and the ideals of the overall organization.

    Essential Functions:ยท

    • Operates telephones efficiently by promptly answering calls, referring, and promptly delivering messages, if necessary, with confidentiality and friendliness.
    • Schedules Confirms and reschedules appointments in a timely manner, managing the designated providers schedule within the UBMD clinic.
    • Prepares prior authorizations in a timely manner for all advanced imaging, or any orders requiring authorization.
    • Prepares patient records appropriately by filing patient records, preparing new charts, placing test and procedure results within the Allscripts EMR system.
    • Working knowledge of insurances, ability to verify and accurately set up patient accounts.
    • If needed accuracy in obtaining prior authorization for injectable medications and the monies due to University Neurology.
    • Works with the billing department to ensure prompt collections of monies due to University Neurology.
    • Sends reminders and follow-up letters for patients as needed in a timely fashion.
    • Participates as a member of the University Neurology team and attends meetings as required.

    Other Functions:

    • Acts as a receptionist when needed in processing patients for the clinic, or other services that are needed within the scope of practice.
    • Enters and verifies for accuracy services provided into the GM system and post payments made by patients and balances closing reports through GM, when needed.
    • Performs other clerical duties as requested by Clinic Manager or Clinic supervisor.
    • Acts in compliance with University Neurology written policies.

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    Education: High School Diploma. Post secondary education in the medical office field is desired.

    Experience/Qualifications: Previous medical/office experience is required. Familiar with medical office EMR systems, understanding of medical insurance, and medical terminology.

    Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
