Surgeon - Heart Transplant examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients with end-stage cardiac disease. Surgically replaces a diseased or damaged heart with a healthy heart. Being a Surgeon - Heart Transplant reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving the desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Heart Transplant may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. The Organ Donations Coordinator (ODC) is responsible for the clinical management of potential donors, evaluation of and allocation of organs, and assisting in the operating room during the recovery of organs. The ODC manages the preservation, packaging and arranging transportation of the donated organs. Additional duties include documentation and traveling to distant locations to bring back (import) organs for local recipients. Company vehicle provided and mileage reimbursement when applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Registered Nurse (who has ICU experience), critical care Paramedic or Registered Respiratory Therapist (who has critical care experience).
MUST HAVE a minimum of 2 years experience in critical care, high acuity level emergency room, critical care management during ground or air transport or other organ recovery experience preferred.
WORK HOURS: (Full-time). Schedule is 3 to 4 shifts per week (12 hour shifts) including some wkends and holidays. Salary based on experience. $54k - $78k per year and will be eligible for overtime pay if applicable. Service area is a 3 hours radius of Memphis, TN.
