Surgeon - Heart Transplant jobs in Missouri
Surgeon - Heart Transplant examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients with end-stage cardiac disease. Surgically replaces a diseased or damaged heart with a healthy heart. Being a Surgeon - Heart Transplant reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving the desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Heart Transplant may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Preferred QualificationsRole Purpose
Coordinates the care of solid organ transplant patients. Collects and evaluates existing data to determine the suitability of potential transplant recipients and donors. Monitors, evaluates and reports postoperative organ function and complications for the transplant recipient and live donor. Provides discharge instruction, coordinates post-transplant follow-up care, monitors patient status, and facilitates the physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of the patient. Plans, conducts and evaluates educational activities regarding organ donation and transplantation.

- Coordinates care with physicians and health care team.
- Provides education throughout continuum of care.
- Documents patient assessment and diagnosis, plan of care, implementation and evaluation of care and teaching on assigned patients.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to identify and resolve problems in patient care management.
