Surgeon - Heart Transplant examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients with end-stage cardiac disease. Surgically replaces a diseased or damaged heart with a healthy heart. Being a Surgeon - Heart Transplant reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving the desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Heart Transplant may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Community Health Nurse, Part-Time (Clarkston)

    Community Health Nurse, Part-Time, Clarkston

    This position focuses on clinical activities to support the health and wellbeing of people who engage in harm reduction programs at BMHTH’s Clarkston office. Working alongside a case manager, this nursing position will manage vaccination, wound care, infection prevention, and linkage to care needs of program participants. This position is part-time and hourly with a range of $42–$45 per hour. It is eligible for all agency benefits.

    Duties:

    • Support street-health, drug user health, and rural prevention clinical programming
    • Prioritize health equity for individuals with substance use disorder and/or vulnerable populations who have limited access to traditional health care
    • Provide vaccinations to individuals: including COVID-19, hepatitis A/B, influenza, tetanus, shingles, and other vaccines as appropriate
    • Manage and monitor vaccines, vaccine controls, storage, and reporting
    • Conduct HIV, hepatitis C, and STI testing, with relevant prevention education and referrals to services for reactive results; if not certified to conduct testing at time of hire, must become trained and certified within six months of hire
    • Support medical provider’s work in HIV, hepatitis C, and SUD treatment of patients at the mobile clinic
    • Conduct full complement of SSP operations at fixed and mobile sites, which may include places in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, as contracts require
    • Support data collection and research efforts as required contractually
    • Continually review evidence base for outreach to hard-to-access and stigmatized participant populations
    • Understand and adhere to best practices for syringe services and harm reduction programming
    • Follow all state and federal regulations and laws relating to harm reduction activities and confidentiality protections
    • Ensure confidentiality and/or anonymity of all program participants who access any prevention and harm reduction services
    • Collect accurate transaction data to assist monthly reporting requirements to Washington State Department of Health, University of Washington, NASTAD, and other collaborators

    Qualifications:

    • Active and unencumbered nursing license in Washington State
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 3–5 years’ experience working in harm reduction and with vulnerable populations
