Surgeon - Cardiothoracic specializes in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of patients with diseases of the heart and lungs. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Being a Surgeon - Cardiothoracic identifies need for tests or follow-up visits. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Additionally, Surgeon - Cardiothoracic may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Job Summary: We are looking for a Board Certified and/or Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our team in Charleston, SC. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual to provide exceptional care in a busy and growing practice. The successful candidate will have experience in routine heart surgery procedures, thoracic procedures, valve operations (including TAVR and mitral), and a current volume of over 200 hearts per year. The practice is expecting growth in 2022, outpacing population growth.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Carry out clinical surgical procedures, including both routine and complex cases
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Provide consultation and monitoring of patients
• Participate in teaching/training of staff
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals involved in patient care
Qualifications:
• Board Certified and/or Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon
• Experience in routine heart surgery procedures, thoracic procedures, and valve operations (including TAVR and mitral)
• Current volume of over 200 hearts per year
• Eligible candidates must submit current case mix, volume, and STS data with application
