Looking for a Supply Chain manager for our IL facility that will manage our packaging operations, our warehouse, and our logistics team.
The role is located in the Peoria IL area and the work schedule is hybrid, where some weekly working from home is also permitted.
Key responsibilities:
1. Leadership responsibility for 7-15 direct reports in the Packaging, Warehouse, and Logistics teams. Packaging and Warehouse teams are Union represented.
1. Direct procurement and production planning report dotted-line to this position.
1. Ensure all staff are properly trained on regulatory and safety guidelines.
1. Maintain safe operations, report accidents and injuries, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
1. Provide leadership, appropriate coaching, and performance feedback to all members of the Packaging, Warehouse, and Logistics teams.
1. Direct the site logistics function to ensure maximum operating efficiency, quality products and services, and customer satisfaction. Develop and execute appropriate strategies for improving operations and customer service.
1. Ensure all orders and transfers are shipped on-time and in full. Measure and report on-time delivery performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
1. Coordinate with Process Engineering to maximize safety and efficiency of packaging operations (filling drums and totes).
1. Maintain required certifications for DoT, IATA, IMDG and other Hazmat transportation regulations for yourself and your team.
1. Track, audit, and report inventory levels and make recommendations on inventory variances, stocking levels, MTS/MTO, lead times, etc.
1. Collaborate with the corporate Supply Chain team to ensure supply of raw materials to meet production demand and assure production planning is carried out for the site to meet customer demands.
1. Determine optimal organization structure and staffing levels for the Packaging, Warehouse, and Logistics teams. Hire, train, develop, promote, discipline staff.
1. Develop and manage department budgets and cost saving initiatives.
1. Coordinate with other departments, other plants, warehousing partners, tollers, and disposal facilities to optimize logistics, select carriers for transportation, negotiate rates, and optimize contracts.
1. Respond to and resolve carrier issues, customer returns, and customer complaints regarding packaging, shipping, or logistics problems.
1. Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow.
1. Support ISO 9001 certifications for businesses by ensuring that all team members comply with processes, procedures, and instructions for all activities in which the team participates.
1. Fill in for logistics personnel when needed
Key requirements:
1. BA/BS in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management or related field and 8-10 years' experience.
1. MS/MBA in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management and 5-8 years' experience.
2. Experience in supply chain, warehousing, logistics, production planning or a comparable position.
3. Experience with Lean / Six Sigma methods a plus.
4. Experience in chemical plant operation preferred but not required.
5. Experience with OSHA PSM covered operations preferred but not required.
6. Experience with Union operations preferred but not required.
7. Experience with bulk transportation (rail car and tank truck) preferred but not required
