Summary
Supports the global network of delivering products and services across the entire supply chain, from raw materials to the end customers. Engages in the design, planning, execution, control and supervision of supply chain activities with the objectives of creating net value, building a competitive infrastructure, leveraging worldwide logistics, synchronizing supply with demand, and measuring performance globally.
We are looking for a strong manager who has the ability to grow this department and advance into a director level position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Personally, or through subordinates, procures materials for production requirements including raw materials, resale products, packaging, and Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) supplies.
- Plans, develops, organizes, directs, manages and evaluates the personnel, operations and budget of the organization's supply chain or a supply chain services company.
- Leads and manages production planning, purchasing, inventory control, forecasting, warehousing, transportation and other areas as required.
- Develops and/or participates in the development of the supply chain strategy for the organization including annual plans with priorities and resources.
- Identifies and manages risk within the supply chain. Addresses tactical and strategic supply chain issues.
- Develops and submits analytics, systems and data management capabilities, including metrics and reports to the VP, Operations and/or key personnel as needed. Develops and delivers presentations as required.
- Manages vendor relationships (e.g., third party logistics) including negotiating favorable contracts and agreements. Visits vendors as required. Initiates or assists in the introduction of new suppliers and materials to support supplier development and cost reduction initiatives.
- Oversees organization wide management of the strategic sourcing, procurement, contracting, and evaluation of services. Serves as the liaison between the supplier base and internal cross-functional teams to ensure specifications/drawings, quality, delivery and cost requirements are met.
- collaborates with staff, other departments, senior management, and decision makers to share information, problem solve, clarify management objectives and ensure maximum productivity.
- Understands customers' needs, services those needs, and maintains and develops positive business relationships with customers' key personnel involved in or directly relevant to supply chain activities.
- Manages/coordinates the sales and operations planning process including supply/demand forecasting, inventory management, and on time delivery.
- Implements and adheres to transaction management best practices.
- Directs and manages corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
- Stays informed of advances in supply chain technology and approaches. Develops and implements new systems, best practices, inventory control, demand planning, and other optimizations in order to grow the business and improve supply chain processes.
- Monitors and analyzes current trends in the marketplace.
- Establishes key performance indicators, monitors ongoing performance, and improves performance against set goals.
- Develops and implements profit improvement plans and change management plans.
- Resolves work-related problems and prepares and submits progress and other reports.
- Communicates values, business goals, and represents the organization to internal and external stakeholders.
- Supports the development of supply chain based training materials and technical manuals.
- Identifies potential projects to deliver changes and improvements to the supply chain and commission select projects.
- Manages and/or executes product life-cycle (range) management (e.g. product introduction and phasing out, etc.)
- Collaborates with other departments to identify vulnerabilities and close operational gaps. Focuses on safety, cost management and business growth in all interactions and directives. Participates in Material Review Board (MRB).
- Optimizes Warehouse functions.
Supervisor Responsibilities
Manages all Materials Management employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
