Supply Chain Director directs overall supply chain operations, including purchasing, inventory, selection of vendors, and distribution of finished goods. Develops and implements a strategy to ensure that critical processes run effectively and achieve organizational goals and performance KPIs. Being a Supply Chain Director negotiates with vendors to obtain optimal contracts and pricing. Utilizes data monitoring and analytics to evaluate past performance and trends and forecast inventory and distribution requirements. Additionally, Supply Chain Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Supply Chain Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Supply Chain Commodity Manager

  • We are seeking a high energy, persuasive, self-directed, driven Commodity Manager to join our Supply Chain team. You will be supported by an organization that is known as an industry leader in the mobile electrification market, that not only manufactures high-quality products in the conductor bar, festoon, slip rings, industrial cable, cord, and hose reel lines, but provides "service after the sale" that drives our niche in the markets we serve.

    The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a procurement and inventory strategy that supports our supply chain. The Commodity Manager must constantly evaluate market conditions in order to maintain timely deliveries and stock availability while controlling costs. The Comm Mgr is responsible for evaluating, recommending, and then developing structured relationships with key vendors in the supply chain. The Comm Mgr is also responsible for mentoring other personnel on the best practices for tactical procurement activities performed by the Buyers and MRP Controllers.

    Requirements

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Departmental Function

    Develop and manage pricing strategies.

    Negotiate pricing agreements between CxW and its suppliers for key accounts and materials.

    Devise ways and means to maximize commodity buying efficiency and the efficiency of other procurement processes to minimize risks to CxW.

    Preserve and promote company standards by building a strong and self-sufficient commodity supply base.

    Ensures that supply chain projects/department milestones/goals are met.

    Assists the Purchasing Mgr and Operations Managers in adhering to approved budgets

    Creates, Establishes, and Maintains Sourcing List on materials.

    Approves quantity and pricing for payment of invoices.

    Supports and upholds the quality and EHS policy.

    Cost Control/Market Analysis

    Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.

    Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Estimates values according to the knowledge of market price.

    Prepares market analysis reports.

    Advises Product Management and Sales on CxW output pricing relative to changes in CxW supply chain input pricing.

    Vendor Management

    Manages contracts and negotiations for key supplier accounts.

    Collaborates with suppliers on improving supplier performance (quality, delivery, and service).

    Develops and maintains business communication with suppliers to assure on-going supplier performance and long-term relationship stability.

    Communicates with internal and external quality control/assurance personnel relative to defective or unacceptable goods to determine the source of trouble and to take remedial and permanent corrective action.

    Ensures that CxW specifications are clear and adhered to by all approved suppliers.

    Reviews and provides escalation of expedite delivery requirements directly with vendors.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and/or 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to work with a conversion of units of measure.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    TRAVEL

    Some travel will be required for this role. Travel will be on as need basis, to support supplier selection, supplier relationship development, and on-going supplier performance. Estimated travel time is approximately 5-10% of total work time.

    OTHER

    Interpersonal skills and organizational skills a must.

    Computer skills: Microsoft product and O365 product knowledge is essential. Data entry, basic computer knowledge, typing and the ability to learn software functions is essential. Mastery with Excel is an essential skill requirement.

    Knowledge of SAP is a benefit, experience with some other ERP system is essential.

    To support our supply chain activities, it is essential that the Comm Mgr achieve the following, in order of importance:

    Quality - working with vendors to provide quality products and services, and to constantly improve acceptance rates.

    Delivery - find vendors who can react quickly to the needs of our organization, despite the lack of spend leverage over suppliers.

    Cost control – strong negotiation skills is ESSENTIAL so we can get fair value for the products/services we purchase.

    Task-oriented - - fast-paced position, responsible for quotes and PO's - must be organized.

    Technical understanding - although we have engineers to rely on, some technical knowledge of the products we purchase is helpful, developing technical knowledge over time is expected.
