Subrogation Specialist is responsible for subrogation activities including the identification and research of subrogation claims. Assists in the recovery of overpayments for duplicate coverage, workers' compensation, and no-fault claims. Being a Subrogation Specialist identifies legal liability and pursues, negotiates, and settles subrogation collection. Researches paid claims, answers inquiries, and coordinates with other departments, insurance adjustors, attorneys, and members. Additionally, Subrogation Specialist interacts with policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and underwriters to recommend and document the necessary information to close a file. Collects information needed to determine when an on-site investigation is necessary. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Subrogation Specialist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Job Description

    Process incoming and outgoing prisoner mail, id mail and ups for the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility (JCF). Write and follow up on mail rejections. Process refunds and government checks. Respond to prisoner and outside correspondence. Update prisoner attorney codes and information via the MDOC computerized database. Process legal mail. Act as or relieve facility operator. Assist the physical plant superintendent in general office functions such as: filing, completing correspondence, organizing files, etc.

    Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

    Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
