Subrogation Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the department which processes subrogation claims according to established standards and schedules. Oversees the evaluation of subrogation claims and recovery of overpayments for duplicate coverage, workers' compensation, and no-fault claims. Being a Subrogation Manager develops and maintains efficient other party liability and coordination of benefits systems. May be responsible for hiring, training, and firing staff. Additionally, Subrogation Manager may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Subrogation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     About the Position:


    The Claims Representative, Subrogation is responsible for identifying subrogation opportunities with Swyfft’s homeowner and commercial property claims. In this role, you will be responsible for actively managing in-house claims and those referred to subrogation vendors. Evaluating facts to determine if damages warrant the cost of experts, lab examinations, and pursuit of recovery through legal channels is a day-to-day requirement of this position.

     

    *This position is a 100% remote U.S. based opportunity that can be based in one of the following states only: AL, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.


    Some travel for day-to-day work, team meetings, and training will be required.

     

    Key Responsibilities: (What you'll be asked to do)


    • Review claim files to identify, evaluate, analyze, and interpret subrogation potential in first-party homeowner and commercial property claims.
    • Negotiate subrogation settlements with all parties, such as claim staff, defense counsel, third-party carriers, and plaintiff attorneys including representing the company at civil mediations.
    • Coordinate appropriate steps to secure evidence and ensure the pursuit, development, and recovery of claims. As well as assisting experts in coordinating joint inspections.
    • Coordinate the recovery of claim payments on behalf of the company and our policyholders. If recovery is completed, ensure policyholders are reimbursed the deductible amounts.
    • Lead quarterly and new hire training sessions for our claims team, to educate them on current subrogation rules and regulations.
    • Responsible for meeting departmental monthly reporting and metrics goals.

    • You have a skilled technical background and have an excellent understanding and hands-on experience in subrogation, liability, and negligence claims.
    • You're used to and are comfortable working in a claims environment that is metrics-driven.
    • You understand the importance of effectively documenting files and communicating the decision to close to all parties involved.
    • Both internal (your peers) and external clients commend your excellent communication skills and the timeliness of your follow-up skills.
    • You're detail-oriented, organized, and can multi-task like nothing anyone has ever seen before!

     

    Some Requirements:


    • 3 years of claims experience in the homeowner and/or commercial property field.
    • 2 years of successfully handling subrogation claims is preferred.
    • You are currently licensed or eligible for licensing as an adjuster in the states of: TX, FL, LA, AL, MA, IL, NY, or CA (we can provide assistance with your licensing fees).
    • Familiarity with the Statutes of Limitations and Statutes of Repose for each state we practice in.


    Education:


    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED) is required.

     

    Computer Skills:


    • Must be proficient with MS Office and other internal insurance related programs, systems or applications. (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
    • Ability to communicate effectively using programs such as Slack & MS Teams. You are comfortable sharing screens and video chatting.
    • Previous experience using estimating software, such as Symbility is required.
