Title V Project Director – Preparing Union Students for Career Success

  • The Title V Preparing Union Students for Career Success Project Director manages the day-to-day operations of the Title V Grant: Preparing Union Students for Career Success and ensures completion of the grant objectives and key performance indicators. The Director supervises the work of the Title V Coordinator for Experiential Learning – STEM, Cyber Center Coordinator, Coordinator for Professional Development and Retention, and the Title V Secretary; coordinates professional development workshops for the faculty and staff; oversees implementation and timeline of grant activities; schedules meetings regularly with program staff to review goals and objectives; manages the budget and coordinates the quarterly drawdown process; and develops and executes implementation plans, assesses progress, and facilitates modifications, as necessary. In collaboration with the deans, faculty, staff, and the external evaluator, the Director coordinates the annual external evaluation and prepares the Interim Report and the Annual Performance Report.

    Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
    • Develops and carries out student-centered plans that result in increasing the persistence and retention of Hispanic/Latinx students.

    • Develops and implements a strategic plan for grant implementation and annual assessment.

    • Manages all grant operations including: the establishment of Cyber Center; design and coordination of the online onboarding program for student services employees; the establishment of a Career Center; implementation and management of Career Services student development program; collaboration with Assessment, Planning, and Research on the development and implementation of a alumni career management outreach; management of the grant budget; coordination of annual project evaluation; and development and submission of federal and college annual reports.

    • Supervises and trains the Title V Coordinator for Experiential Learning – STEM, Cyber Center Coordinator, Title V Professional Development and Retention Specialist, and Project Secretary.

    • Coordinates professional development for Title V staff and faculty, and the college community.
    • Collaborates with the Preparing Union Students for Career Success staff, division deans, Assistant Dean of STEM, Director of Student Research, Student Development, and other divisions/departments to ensure completion of grant objectives and benchmarks.

    • Facilitates the development of a collaborative environment with the college community to ensure successful project implementation.

    • Provides weekly updates and reports, as needed, to the Dean of Elizabeth Campus and Institute for Intensive English.

    • Coordinates the external evaluation process and the development of the Title V Interim Report, Title V Grant Annual Performance Report and college reports.

    • Develops and implements Preparing Union Students for Career Success informational materials in conjunction with College Relations.

    • Serves as a key member of the Title V Project Advisory Team and the Project Evaluation Team.

    • Researches and informs project staff/faculty on best practices in student success.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education Requirements
    Master’s degree in a higher education or related field required.

    Experience
    • Experience as a Title V Grant Project Director or related experience in a Title V Grant.
    • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.

    Competencies and Skills Required
    • Experience with managing and supervising federal and/or state grants.

    • Commitment to the goal of improving student success for Hispanic/Latinx students.

    • Proven ability to manage a federal budget and grant reporting; manage grant timelines, project objectives, and federal budget; complete federal reports; and meet grant goals.

    • Problem-solving skills and data analysis experience.

    • Experience in program and staff development, strategic planning, and program evaluation.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

    • Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague, Business Objects, Canvas, and project management tools.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment
    • This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
    • Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
    • Some travel required.

    Salary
    $68,000 - $72,000

    Terms of Employment
    Full-time grant funded position (Title V Grant-Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions). Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
