    POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Director should have familiarity with social services and a variety of available community resources, a passion for community outreach, strong attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. In addition to the requirements set forth as listed below. The Program Director must have the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with staff members, participants, parents, stakeholders and the overall community. The Program Director is required at times to travel to other UAU work sites, within the Staten Island community, and in addition to, but not limited to Manhattan. The Program Director is responsible for complying with all standards set forth by United Activities Unlimited and the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD).

    Must be willing, capable and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed and scheduled in advance; to work additional hours as needed and attend meetings and/ or events in addition to the regular weekly work schedule.

    In order to be considered, candidates MUST meet the qualifications specifically pertaining to Education and Supervisory experience below.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

    • Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
    • Oversee program staff, program operations, services, and the implementation of programs and/other processes (e.g. site rules, discipline, site schedule, space requirements, etc.) for the purpose of providing services within established time frames and in compliance with related requirements.
    • Participate in organizing meetings, workshops, seminars, (staff training, parent meetings, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues, gaining knowledge, providing information, and/or supporting site staff.
    • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
    • Develop and implement short and long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program.
    • Monitor an annual budget and operation plan to support the program.
    • Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement.
    • Ensure that the program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization and funders.
    • Ensure that the program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
    • Develop forms and records to document program activities.
    • Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the clients of the program for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization.
    • Responsible for addressing and resolving employee issues in conjunction with HR as needed such as; disciplinary, performance related, schedules and performance appraisal in accordance to company policy.
    • Ensures workflow of the department is handled efficiently and effectively.
    • Supervision of re-training for existing staff as needed.
    • Ensures that all policies and procedures are following all appropriate legal requirements.
    • Ensure that personnel files for the program are properly maintained and kept confidential.
    • Establish and implement a performance management process for all program staff.
    • Create and manage staff schedules, assignments, and timesheets.
    • Develop collaborative relations with staff, stakeholders, neighbouring school administration, administration, and community members.
    • Develop and maintain open communication with parents, school administration, and the organization.
    • Abide by and enforce all safety protocols as outlined by the Department of Health/ OCFS, DYCD, FDNY and UAU
    • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    ●* *Required Education Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or related field is MUST candidates that do not have the education requirements will not be considered OR in lieu of the aforementioned educational requirements the Program Director must successfully complete the required New York State School-Age Care (SAC Credentials) within 18 months of starting the position as Program Director.

    ●* *MUST have 2 years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, required.

    ●* *MUST have 2 years in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work; whereas experience is in direct management and oversight of 10 plus employees, required.

    ● Obtain and maintain all security clearance requirements throughout the duration of employment.

    ● Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based perspective.

    ● Must be culturally competent - the ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across all cultures.

    ● Familiar with the regulations and requirements for DYCD and NY State Departments of Health and aware of the compliance requirements as enacted by Federal, State and local jurisdictions.

    ● Ability to demonstrate excellent employee rapport and community leadership.

    ● Proficient writing and verbal communication skills.

    ● Proficiency in basic computer usage, i.e., Windows, Microsoft Suite, Google Apps (drive, sheets, docs) etc..

    ● Excellent organizational and time management skills

    ● Demonstrated ability to conduct and complete work independently

    ● Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed

    ● Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes.

    • Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need.

    • Involves sitting approximately 50-60% percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time.
    • Travel is required at times and is reimbursed as per UAU policy.
    • May include working prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    • The ability to observe details at close range (withing a few feet or more of the observer).
