    Summary:

    We are currently seeking a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to work in our Global Services Design Team located in Marlborough, Massachusetts, with experience leading bridge design and transportation structures. Typical projects include the design of new, replacement and rehabilitation bridges, bridge load ratings, bridge inspections, evaluation of historic bridges; and supporting our transportation engineering department with a variety of structural projects for state departments of transportation, county, municipal and private clients. These projects include but not limited to retaining walls, culverts, mast arms, overhead sign structures, etc. 

     You will be a key member of our growing structural group, leading bridge practice and collaborating with expert engineers throughout North America. We leverage our structural group to support building and transportation design, but this role focuses on leading and further developing a bridge design practice. 

    This position supports Tetra Tech’s Global Services Design Team that supports work on facility and infrastructure projects worldwide as well as Massachusetts based transportation projects. The selected candidate will experience a unique opportunity to be involved with projects around the globe and next door working with our in-house multi-discipline experts to apply structural knowledge adapted to local conditions.

    The structural group supports buildings, site infrastructure and bridge designs throughout the world.  In the US we support bridge and building projects to meet our client’s needs. Internationally we provide architecture and engineering services in support of the US Department of Defense, USAID, Millennium Challenge Corporation, and many other customers worldwide.

    Responsibilities: 

    • Perform design calculations, structural analysis and review calculations prepared by others
    •  Prepare construction plans
    • Review and edit specifications and design narratives
    • Perform structural detailing for concrete and steel structures
    • Coordinate design work with all discipline during the entire design process
    • Lead the structural design of small and mid-size structures and work as a part of a design team for larger and more complex designs
    • Provide mentoring and training to junior staff.

    Qualifications: 

    • BS in Civil Engineering with focus in structural course work, MSCE in structural preferred
    • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of Structural Engineering design experience and capable of leading bridge design team
    • Professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Massachusetts or the ability to get one, and the ability to act as Designer of Record
    • Proficiency in structural analysis programs, including AASHTOWare
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit is preferred
    • Interest and willingness for short term travel overseas
    • Meet quality standards and deadlines
    • Strong computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
    • Eagerness to learn and ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
    • Knowledge of and experience with MassDOT’s design standards and criteria, practices, and policies
    • Knowledge of and experience with AASHTO's bridge design specification
    • Due to the clients we serve this position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Residence Card
    • Must be able to pass background screening including criminal history, credit check etc. 

    Additional Information:

    You may be required drive on an occasional basis for business purposes, to do this, you will need a valid driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check, and maintain a safe driving record.

    The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $130,000.
