Strategic Planning Manager manages the analytical and research activities supporting an organization's strategic, short-term, and long-range goal planning function. Oversees data collection and conducts organizational reviews to identify the business's strengths and weaknesses and evaluate operational effectiveness. Being a Strategic Planning Manager leads the research of emerging trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, and the viability of outside business partners. Develops recommendations for internal business process improvement. Additionally, Strategic Planning Manager designs and executes methods to track and measure organizational performance data to use for planning. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Strategic Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Strategic Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, Strategic Planning

  • Job Function:  The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Strategic Planning is responsible for financial oversight of transformation efforts, strategic projects, long-range planning and analytics. Working closely with executive stakeholders, this role directly influences programs and initiatives shaping the NCAA organization.

     Job Responsibilities         

    • Revenue Projection Analysis | Directly responsible for developing a sustainable forecasting process to forecast ticketing, merchandising and other revenue. This requires effective collaboration and communication with key stakeholders, expertise in financial analytics and modeling, and incorporation into the long-range planning process.
    • Scenario Planning | Drive and own business transformation analytics support, including modeling distribution fund planning and impact analysis and big expense mitigation strategies.
    • Contract Oversight | Own understanding the financial impact of contracts and incorporate the impact into the 5-year outlook, and work with stakeholders proactively when contracts will expire, providing insights and analytics to ensure new contracts are financially viable.
    • Transformation Support | Own analytics and financial modeling to support ongoing NCAA projects and initiatives. Act as the primary point of contact for Finance on cross functional strategic projects, and fully own financial analytics and modeling support.
    • Committee Support | Prepare financial models, executive presentations, and materials to support committee and executive discussions. Ensure presentations are concise, clear, and with insights to support executive leadership.
    • Executive Communication | Create & deliver turn-key presentations to executive leadership to support committee discussions and initiative reviews with actionable insights to lead to meaningful discussion and decision-making. Predict what questions stakeholders might ask, and proactively address those concerns.
    • Long-Range Planning | Fully own modeling and updating the NCAA long-range financial plan. Track and incorporate risks and opportunities to the organization working directly with stakeholders across the NCAA. Identify risks and opportunities pro-actively. Maintain and deliver on updates to the long-range planning in the EPM.
    • Team Development & Supervision | Provide professional development opportunities to staff, provide regular coaching, and seek out opportunity to provide stakeholders and the Finance team education and clarity.
    • Proactive Insights & Analytics | Understand what drives NCAA financials, develop relationships within the organization, and proactively provide insights and opportunities to leadership based on those discussion to champion the financial health of the organization.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in relevant field such as Finance or Business required.
    • Advanced post-graduate degree preferred such as an MBA in Finance or Accounting or CPA
    • 10 years of relevant Financial operations experience and demonstrated leadership experience.
    • Experienced with financial valuations, budget, forecasting, process improvement, project management, business case development, and capital planning.
    • Excellent executive communication skills, including both verbal and presentation development.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence peers and manage upwards to drive meaningful change.
    • Expert in Excel financial modeling.
    • Experience in Oracle EPM, SmartView, and ERP preferred.
    • Experience with Asana project management tool preferred.
    • Have a curious and questioning mindset!
    • Estimated Travel Required <10%
    • This position will be based out of the national office in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Current work environment is hybrid; 3 days in the office and 2 days are remote.
